Does it 'boil' the water though? I had one (breville I think it was), and in my opinion, it didnt make the water hot enough for tea.

Had one of these but I find it just does not boil the water hot enough. I like my cup piping hot, this just does hot. If anyone wants one for nothing please let me know its just in a cupboard now.

Not hot enough ? Boiling water actually scolds coffee and milk...
Add coffee powder in a cm of cold water (add milk if needs be) then add hot water, pour hot water very slowly into anything with milk and it stops it scolding the milk, scolding coffee or milk does change the flavour and not for the better.
And I have this, you can and will burn yourself on the water heat, so no issue making a cuppa.

Yep, that's what happens for my grandmother on her residential home, either the staff fill it or we do when we visit. However, she does only take black tea (using granules as easier to dose etc), so not an issue if massive does not quite get to full boiling.

Got one (albeit it's in the cupboard now and we're back to using the kettle on the hob again). It was fine if you drink black coffee (from a fairly small mug). It made acceptable black tea, but if you take either with milk you'll probably find it's a little cool. I take my hot beverages black so it didn't bother me, but the Mrs is a milk & sugar girl and hated it.

They would take a smaller jug of water to it.
Then they only have to carry cold water instead of picking up something full of boiling water.
Another alternative is a Kettle Tipper which adapts an existing kettle, they're about £15.

We got the one from Aldi and it lasted about a week before it started producing water with scale in it. Would not recommend the aldi one but to their credit, they have arranged for it to be collected and will give a refund.

these are great! I think ours is slightly larger from amazon, they last about 5 years then you buy another as you cant live without them (well you could but you know).

I think Aldi has had a very similar one on sale resently for a similar price.
Just thought it might be worth mentioning as Aldi give 3 years warranty.
