Yep I've got a 230mm Dewalt soft start too, but that's a different tool for different jobs. No good for small cutting or finishing, far too big and ferocious.

lidl have got them in now £35 for 230mm with 3 year warranty might not be a professional one but used it at weekend was great for making a new side doorway in my garage.

Use this regularly, it's great for the price but I find the lock on button a bit awkward to catch sometime.
I've never felt the 600W was lacking in power for any job it's done.

No, posted twice in the entire history of humanity. Both times nearly a year ago.
Great grinder. Great price. Great deal. End of.

I would have bought this over the Bosch 720w version if it had been this price a year ago, don't regret paying £50 for the 720w as I think that has a smaller body making it easier to hold for long periods.

Voted hot just for reminding us of the price.
I have a £10 extra cashback offer from Quidco at the moment, have been looking for a small purchase such as this! Cheers

wrong tool mate initially, you need a sledge hammer.

to small, to cut through a wall
a 9 inch grinder might be to small to, but not sure.

:smile::smile: And who appointed you as guardian of the official definition of the word 'hot', in the context of HUKD? Mr. "I posted 1 Ethernet deal 18 months ago".
Not bothered in the slightest whether it's the standard price, nor if was 'already posted 1 year ago'.
If it helps just a few people, I'm happy. If it goes hot, all the better as it means more people will benefit. :stuck_out_tongue:

No chance, good for removing mortar prior to ponting but it will only cut halfway into a brick
That's E-Stock and also 110V - this deal is for 240...
dale86uk
12 May 16#26
Would recommend 110V for best of both words domestic/commercial. Also safer.
Pepp77
12 May 16#27
But why would you want to use 110v in the UK where we have 240v electrical setups?
GoldSquid
12 May 16#28
if your bricks are about 10cm across you'll have to attack it from both sides but you'll need a 230mm which cuts about 6.5cm. I did mine by drilling through every yard or so and to match up and got it spot on but like the channel tunnel

Like wise, the Op appears to be an arrogant ass.
It may only show up twice in the search over 12 months, but it has definitely been on here far more times than that. They may have been spammed and removed. As others have said, it's been this price at Screwfix for ages

on sites they use 110v transformers, as its meant to be safer than 240v,
you can use an rcd with a 240v but apparently these can fail.
Personally I would get a 240v as you dont have to lug around a heavy transformer ( and just use an rcd)

Managed to use up the motor brushes, make sure you buy original ones as the cheap ones didn't work. they are a little pricey but they work (£7-10)
This is the first grinder i owned that has lasted longer than the brushes

13 May 16#37
If 600w isn't enough you're doing something wrong...
no, spending £35 on a little underpowered grinder is a suicide. As an example. the LIDL grinder at £19.99 are monsters in comparisons, 1200w, takes larger discs, quicker to cut and the very best thing of all it does also include a variable speed which is useful for polishing the car professionally

13 May 16#40
Apples for oranges! This is 115mm angle grinder, you don't buy this if you want 1200w or larger disks or any anything else you want to list. Not everyone wants one tool to do every job, a 600w 115mm grinder has its place.
miaomiaobaubau
13 May 16#41
your reasoning does not make sense at all, lol
Roger_Irrelevant
13 May 161#42
Yes it does, allow me to explain with the aid of pictures.
Suppose you want to cut a brick wall in half, or a cut a large bit of steel box section. You need a big meaty grinder to do the cut:
Now suppose you just want to polish or finish some object, or do a small cut. You need a small grinder as you don't want to be holding a big 2KW beast for any amount of time:
Imagine doing job 2 with angle grinder 1. Imagine doing job 1 with angle grinder 2.
Do you understand yet? :stuck_out_tongue:

No common sense is been applied once again. In the first picture I can see a huge heavy grinder/cutter which is a much bigger machine which you cannot make any comparison, in the other one something smaller which is the one I made my comparison. I been using all in my life and therefore I know what I am talking about, being a bosch does not justify a £35 in a form of an underpowered 600w (can still grind but I bet it will tend to die when cutting). For much less we can buy something that does do more for much less and in a compact size and of a very good long lasting quality. Got 3 of these LIDL grinder which I use with different discs at once to save time on changing them when needed and they are great at £19.99, one of them is about 6 years old and regularly been used extensively at some points and never let me down.

lol, is a 600w, 115mm safety specs will do fine.

Actually cutting requires very little power if you use appropriate discs and correct technique. Ever used slitting discs ( ~1mm thick?). My 115mm grinder with these has happily done hundreds of cuts in mild steel box up to 60x60x5 (obviously you have to cut from more than one side). If you're pressing hard enough to stall it when cutting then you're not using it right and there's a risk of the disc exploding. Obviously 1200w is more power but it must be also be heavier and larger which, for long periods/tight spaces is not a good thing...as stated previously each has there place but a tool with 1200w and larger diameter discs is not comparable and certainly not always superior.
