They money plant and lucky bamboo are excellent, mine are still growing and still going strong after I bought them last year.

I bought two of the carmona last year and they were infested with blackfly, after six months trying to keep them alive having bought special bonsai pesticide, they eventually went in the bin last week. The two pachira aquatica have gone from strength to strength though.

Also bought two lucky bamboo last time they came up; one of my sticks rotted out after a few weeks, two have gone on my girlfriends. So I'd only get one if you feel particularly lucky!

I always think of bonsai, as being cruelty to plants and trees.
