The membership tier will be made available starting today to both new and existing subscribers who will be able to either sign up or change their membership from the web or the Apple Music mobile application for iOS and Android.
Discount will be verified through Unidays, but nothing showing on their site at the moment. £9.99 monthly fee reduced to £4.99 for 12 months and you can renew this after 12 months if you're still a student.
Don't expect this to go very hot as most people this site hate Apple AND students haha.
Apple Music, along with every other streaming service I've tried, is far from perfect and clearly the service received when the issue was raised was poor at best but come on...... we've all lived in this digital world long enough to know you should backup backup backup.

Like Apple, but why should students get discounts on everything? Thought they were all hard up paying for their fees, or is that the union bar? ;-)

To give people studying for degrees an incentive to spend money. It's as simple as that.
Students aren't 'hard up paying for their fees' - those that obtain a tuition fee loan never actually see the money, it is forwarded directly from SFE to the relevant University.
Also, this is a false deal. As of yet the promotion does not exist, despite being widely reported on in the Apple rumour sites. Chances are it will become available in the UK as of this evening. But, no official announcement as of yet, therefore no deal until such an announcement is made .

How do you expect a country to prosper without trained Engineers, Doctors , Nurses, Teachers etc. All require a degree.
Life is being made tougher for students year on year, we don't need this stupid 'union bar'
rubbish.
I am a student doing training for a career I couldnt get into without Uni- not to get **** up. Dont tar everyone with the same brush.

Actually asked about this from Apple a month ago, they said to its been taken into consideration. Glad about this as I was paying £10 but stopped after i couldn't be bothered. Don't mind a fiver as such. Heat

I actually received an email yesterday but I can't find it in my inbox, not sure where it's gone? Not sure if it's been recalled, or whether I imagined reading it when I first woke up?!
I was just about to share that...wouldn't touch Apple music with a bargepole!

I tried it for Free for 3 months. It didn't delete a thing after the trail. Only thing that stopped working were the albums I downloaded (via Apple Music, not purchases) during the trial (expected behaviour).

It is nice though that us students get discounts sometimes, it's not like we're rolling around in an abundance of disposable income.

Students get loads of discounts on a wide variety of services and goods. I wouldn't wait for this website to tell you though, there must be a site that can list the majority you are entitled to?

Would be so much better if they received tuition free and we as a country recognised the value of having an educated workforce/population. Thanks for nothing Blair.
The majority of students have precious little extra cash and companies such as Apple are desperate to get them hooked on the cool-aid as young as possible.

Why shouldn't they, what your actually saying is, that because YOU do not get those discounts you want to spoil it for those who do? the alternative is no one gets discounts, would that make you happy?
Doubtful, Amazon Prime remove all family based features for students most other companies do the same too, prob to stop students sharing.

Been a Spotify member for well over 5 years now. Use it daily but think £10 per months getting slighly much now. Tried the 3 months free trial with Apple Music and hardly used it because I always thought "Oh I cba, got all my music on Spotify". Still very on the fence about biting the bullet and just cancelling and forcing myself to move over....Anyone else in the same predicament?

All my loan goes to rent and even then I'm short a few hundred quid so have to work which means I don't have any surplus. No one I know really drinks at all - our SU is more expensive than the pubs and it's terrible.
Anyway, this is a well good deal. Wider range than Spotify

You can get is as an existing user, you have to go in to manage your subscription in iTunes or the music app on iOS. Then Student membership will be an option you can switch to and it will take you to Unidays to confirm your student status.

Switched to apple music recently because they've had Drake's new album for 2 weeks already while the other platforms are still without. While I've had no problems with spotify, why pay the same for a platform that is getting some music slightly later. Obviously this only applies if the exclusive music is of your taste.

I see apple music already on par with spotify and its still very new and will only keep on improving. Will be the #1 streaming platform by a mile in another year or so
