ALRIGHT...it's no Quackshot (now that's a game!). But it's a great game and it's down to only 50p.
Who remembers rocking this in the 90's with a can of Tab Clear whilst periodically pausing to flick sweets at your siblings with your 5p candy necklace?

Michael Jacksons Moonwalker was an absolute gem, albeit the arcade version (often found in the local fair ground) was far superior to the one pushed out on to home consoles.

and this offer cost 50p more with all the same info going out, maybe even more info. who knows.
Most of the permissions are there due to the way andorid functions, the access to SMS is not for snopping, but for recieving sms confirmations or paying like many apps and security do. Similar with others. The potential for other uses are there of course just like any app that needs it, google has just te same potential with it's ability to read SMS.
Again it is still 50p more than Amazon Apps.
(i'm not directing at you, it's the general tone of HUKD anti-amazon fans).
50p is neither here or there for the argument in reality, it's naff all. Even if it is enough difference for a new phone/ssd deal to be posted again. It's the missinformation an scaremongering of the Amazon Underground 'permissions' that's the problem here. The big advantage of Google Apps is the much simpilar update mechanism, Amazon Apps is naff and cumbersome from a standard Android phone user.

As I said, I downloaded and used Amazon Underground when I had an Android. I'm just pointing out to people who are going "It's free! It's free!" that it's only free if you price Amazon having access to all the data that BuzzDuraband listed above as being worth nothing to you.
bsim
5 May 161#38
Just the same as Google Store/Play and the other parts it needs. No difference, it just explicitly tells you on Amazon underground. Both provide you with more than just games, amazon underground is more than just the Apps too.
One is just pre-installed from the start (either Google on many Android devices or Amazon on fire devices.
I guess you trust Google more, one of the largest datamining companies in the world. ?

sJohnson23
5 May 16#31
Not quite. You'll be handing the information to Amazon who aren't providing the game to you out of the goodness of their blackened tax dodging hearts. They'll get every penny's worth back.
Your choice of course - when I had an Android phone, I happily installed and ran the Amazon Underground App but I was conscious that it wasn't some charitable endeavour.
BuzzDuraband
5 May 161#30
Well you need the Amazon Underground App on your phone to download the apps and to keep acquirement of the apps. When I asked 'at what cost?', I was referring simply to the permissions you accepted Amazon to perform.
Some won't mind these, some will. I don't have Amazon Underground installed on any of my devices.
tonyyeb
5 May 161#29
So exactly the same as if I download from Google Play. But 50p cheaper. Thanks for clearing that up.
sJohnson23
5 May 16#28
Just their ones - although those apps can ask for permission for other information (e.g. access to your photos, your location, your contacts, etc).
tonyyeb
5 May 16#27
Use of apps? All the apps on my phone or just the ones I install through Amazon underground?
sJohnson23
5 May 16#26
The Amazon Underground App necessitates the disabling of a security protocol and allowing information about the use of apps to go back to Amazon. As has been pointed out, if something is supplied to you free of charge, chances are that you're the product being sold.

5 May 16#25

This has some stonking reviews on the Megadrive when it came out. Mean Machines gave it 95% and said it was the best platformer on the Megadrive. Personally, I preferred Robocod but that was released almost a year later.

Mean Machines agreed with you, calling Robocod the best platformer too (it was subsequent to Castle of Illusion ergo Robocod was superior), but both were stone cold classics:
However this game on offer (for those who don't want to turn off the safety protocols to get the Amazon Underground Marketplace) isn't really the same - it's a reimagining. Fun but not quite as satisfying I'm afraid.
