Mine arrived and I'm happy with it. Just like BenderRodriguez states, the pouch is too short and the velcro isn't the best. It will do for having in the car/handbag etc. According to the packaging, it is aproximately 160 Lumen and has a XP-G2 chip.

Mine has just arrived. Very pleased with build quality. Tried it in the attic (no, it's not 130m long!) and it seems very bright. The pouch really is tight so that the flap hardly has purchase to close it on the velcro. Overall I feel it's a good purchase.

Got mine today. not the brightest but feels very solid and has only two modes (full and low power). I've never, ever needed to use a SOS signal or other nonsense packed in the Chinese torches and having to click through all that crap to use the torch is a pain, so kudos to Aldi.

I'll keep my LED lenser but this one isn't bad as a cheap torch for thrashing.

Pouch that comes with it is too short though and velcro on the flap doesn't grip very well.

Website is stating both colour options are sold out online but will be available instore soon.

Pity about the flickering. It's been a common problem with a lot of cheap crees I've had.

Same here, kept flickering right out the box, had to return it.

The ALDI one comes with a 3 year warranty and helpline something none of the chinese imports offer. Maglite's closest spec to this regarding lumens I found online for £30 which is out of many peoples budgets for a torch. £6.99 is a good price for a torch that also comes with a 3 year warranty. Your basing the quality of this item on past experience of cheap imports from Chinese websites, have you even tried any of the Cree torches that aldi have offered in the past?

Just for reference, it looks the same as the one I bought at this price last year. It uses 2AA batteries. It's been knocked around and used daily, it's well engineered, rubber o rings between All the sections, it's about 6mm longer than a £20 note. Comes with a useful carry case. Hope the pic upload works.

Try turning it on and off a few times. One mode is on all the time , the other is to flicker on and off , next mode is off . It is actually a feature, not a fault!

Maglite are way better quality than these.They're built to last unlike these cheap looking,Chines imports.

Yes looks like that one, more likely with an uprated description than an actual uprated LED.

Even at 6 quid I don't think I would risk buying this without seeing an in depth review.

A lot of torches take a single battery which needs a converter to (reasonably efficiently) increase the battery voltage to dive an LED. A lot of torches take 3 batteries and need a converter to reduce the voltage. Not many torches take two batteries which need a more complicated converter which can reduce or increase the battery voltage depending on the state of the battery. The cheap and extremely nasty alternative is not to bother with a converter making it bright with new alkaline batteries fading substantially as they run down and more importantly making it almost useless with rechargeable NiMH batteries.

Have you actually seen a Cree LED torch?
The iPhone (or any phone) torch doesn't compare.

Bought them 2 of the cheaper zoom version Cree ones off Amazon (just over £2 each delivered) and they both stopped working after 3 - 4 weeks.

which generally will have a short life, because of poor build quality. They also have virtually no warranty, compared with the 3 year cover from Aldi.

Plenty on ebay and amazon which are cheaper, smaller and (probably) brighter

Great bit of kit much better than maglite for the money just ordered another. nice carrying case and belt clip.
