1gb ram?? I'd probably get a second hand Nexus 7 2013 rather than this, although it does look reasonable.

wouldn't get too caught up in the specs, you can get a nexus at argos new for this price sometimes cheaper, but it's 7inch not 8, and doesn't have the stand/camera, so not really same kettle of fish.

Lenovo keep their OS fairly light and bloat-free. My devices currently with similar apps in memory (both Android 4.4):
1GB Lenovo 8" A5500 tablet is showning only ~450MB used, ~530MB free
2GB Sony Xperia Z1 Compact phone is showing ~1.1GB used, ~600MB free

lenovo Yoga 2, 8inch has much better spec this was a downgrade Yoga 2 has 2g ram and better screen I love mine, not sure what these are going for nowadays

Got one of these and have never noticed any lack of performance, although I don't use it for games. Lower screen resolution is irrelevant on something this size and quality. Battery and audio are both excellent and newer OS (over the Yoga 2) insures it will run the apps that I want.

I agree re yoga 2....I researched for ages when buying a couple of months ago and the yoga 2 spec is better....higher resoltion screen and double the memory....the price at the time was similar so cnat comment on prices now

this one won a prize for innovation at mobile world congress due to it's camera in the twisting bezel / stand. Maybe that's the trade off (there's always one when trying to hit a c.£100 price point - bear in mind £20 of that is VAT, so this is an £40 to make tablet, with £20 to lenovo £20 to argos £20 to govt).
