The Waitrose meal deal is on again - listed as 20 to 26 April.
Mains include whole chicken, tangy Gressingham duck breasts, Hereford beef burgers, tuna steaks in soy and ginger, Aberdeen Angus and ale pie, piri piri chicken, beef and peppercorn bake, lasagne rotollo, and leek and Wensleydale chicken, and mushroom stroganoff.
Plenty of interesting sides and the starter/ dessert choice includes mussels in cider and bacon sauce, poached salmon mousses, bacon leek and gruyere tartlets, Orkney dressed crab; and several options from Gu - hot chocolate souffles/ lemon cheescakes/ chocolate melting middles.
Wine is the same boring Italian Villa Nostra white or red as last time, or chocolates as an alternative.
I think I prefer the M&S deals, but I'm not complaining for a tenner and the wine is drinkable.
Gotta be worth 10 squid. Well done Waitrose, may your aisles always have customers.

Some nice choices there. Shame the drinks choice is so limited, but good to know you think the wine is drinkable.

Thinking whole chicken, moules, whatever dessert, red wine and grabbing a load of fresh bread for chicken sandwiches and dipping in moules stock. Not sure if good value for money or not but certainly convenient I guess

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's just as far!
I do occasionally visit Chester, but family complains as I always take the opportunity to drop in there.
Wow! This has come around again a tad quicker this time. Was only about a month or so back the last one. Have they woken up at last?
We've had 3 now over the last couple years (yep, usually takes an age between, so glad they seem to have changed). 2 were brilliant. 1 was M&S standard. Saying that, the last M&S with gammon shanks was delicious! Will be having that again.

NOT TRUE! think it's only if you order online the choice is from a boring 2. In the shop it's different!
Last time, although many don't notice it (we didn't until we were told) ...if you go around to where all the wines are - our Waitrose has a full isle of wines almost. You go down the wines and some will have a label (Dinner for two wine) - we chose the dearest we could find ...£7.99 - and because it was a weekend, spend 10 quid you get a newspaper free (think we got the Telegraph as it was not the cheapest!) which made the tenner bill look like nothing!!

How about.....
1 mushroom risotto (starter which is actually good as a main)
1 Lasagne Rotollo (think it's veg based!)
1 Salad/Veg Side
1 Box of Chocs (very good quality)
And a free paper to boot with the mywaitrose card.

Good thing with these is that you can have a starter (instead of a dessert) and I can make some of thoses starters into a main very easily!

Maybe someone will come along with a nice deal for match.com in a moment. In the meantime, you've got two dinners for yourself sorted for a tenner. Mind you I've been known to eat the whole thing myself in one go on occasion
