An odd deal, seems you have to have flown London-Edinburgh 1 January 2015 to 29 July 2016.
But looking at the form it looks as if you could get away with dummy details.
Good price for the main line.

No i realise that, I have received the code. I'm just wondering, do I find the '15GBP' to and from journeys from available dates and times, or do i put in the code when checking out?

You need to register via the link in the OP giving details of the journey you flew or when you plan to fly. Then if Virgin deem you as 'worthy' they will send you a code via email within 5 days. There is a link in the email to click through to booking, then you enter your code and choose travel times.
It is just a loss leader for Virgin to tempt people off planes and onto trains but a damn good deal nonetheless.

Got my code so booking first class return to Edinburgh for £60
Still more expensive than the Ryanair but I much prefer the train and this is first class

How do you find the specific tickets that are that price? or do you just pick any that are from Edinburgh and to london (or vice versa), then use the code at checkout?

I was about to book flights in May which are pretty cheap tbf.
Would prefer the train but was getting prices of £300-£600 for the return ticket!
Hopefully will get a code

Just got my code and checked train availability and works on the early express train from Edinburgh - the only one that gets me to London in time for a morning meeting. Take back what I said - an early start but a good alternative to a 6:30 budget airline - book £30 first class for the same price as an Easyjet flight and get breakfast as well. And the same price back with dinner and a complementary drink or three... good job, Virgin (whoever you are)!

It's better to fly in the future because you enjoyed it more. Also you already know if the plane crashed so you can take a different one.

Read the Richard Branson biography by Tom Bower, search Amazon, and you might get an idea why.

Yeah, but Virgin East Coast is only like 10% owned by Virgin Rail, which in turn is only just controlled by Virgin Group. The remainder on both organisations being held by Stagecoach. Everything about the Virgin brand just baffles me. It seems like a brand that isn't restricted to actual ownership or control.

Great deal - thanks.
Do you know how far into the future we can book the trains?

Form is a bit of a joke but filled it in anyway as planning a trip soon. Will be interesting, as always, to see what trains voucher is valid on and whether any of them would offer a reasonable alternative to the (usually) far cheaper budget airlines. Can almost guarantee that none will be any use if you need to get to your destination reasonably early in the day.

I flew to Edinburgh about 20 years ago is that recent? After all it feels like only yesterday. What a daft promotion.

They want people who will switch from plane to train. hence the wording.

Its because Virgin are stopping their Edinburgh to London flights and so trying to get people to use rail rather than the air alternatives.
