being using rechargeable batteries and batteries since they came out and I still have a collection of huge and heavy NiCD chargers to donate to any antigue musuems.
The description does not say if this will fast charge the batteries, and circuit control (or cut off) to regulate the battery when on near complete charge, or refreshes the battery. It does not say what type and capacity of battery it comes with.
Don't mean to a put damper on the whole thing since it is only £4.99 but sometimes maybe you get what you pay for and I would be cautious of having something like that on creating chemical reactions to recharge a battery for long hours and leaving it unattended

Here's some information I found on Amazon for the Ultra Max charger. The All in One Digital Battery Charger is supplied with an external 3 pin UK mains adaptor power cable and has a total of six individual charging channels, which includes four 1.2V channels and two 9V channels, each with its own individual charging indicator. It has a linear transformer built-in. This charger will charge one to four pieces of AA/AAA/C/D Ni-MH or Ni-Cad rechargeable batteries and will also charge one to two pieces of 9V Ni-MH or Ni-Cad rechargeable batteries. Please note that batteries of different sizes or capacities cannot be charged together. Charging indicators: RED LED fast flash indicates abnormal functioning. RED LED slow flash indicates charging is in progress. RED LED constant flashing indicates battery is fully charged and this channel will now trickle charge the battery. It is recommended to remove the battery from the charger after charging is complete. Do not leave the battery connected to the charger or plate for a prolonged period. It is recommended that you read the instructions carefully before using this product.

I remember paying what seemed like a lot of pocket money for my first Sanyo rechargeables, but in all that time, battery charging technology hasn't improved, I find all these new, "detect dud" battery chargers, invariably get it wrong. Stick the supposed dud in my £5 Lidl charger, one without auto off and a pretty slow charge rate, and it will always recharge eventually, although you have to set a kitchen timer to remind you to take them out, it's proved far more effective than any other charger for keeping older batteries going long after they're 'dead', never had a battery catch fire either, lol.

I have done this, but have found that there usually something wrong with battery. I may charge but will not last very long or not hold charge for any length of time. I thought it was my smart charger getting it wrong, instead there was something wrong with the battery.
