Sounds good to me
49 might just be your new lucky number. At the end of next week, we'll be hosting two very special Thailand flash sale events, giving away 49 return flights to Bangkok for £49!
When? Thursday April 28th
Where? London Victoria Store and Birmingham Corporation Store
These fares will only be available to purchase in person from the two chosen stores, with doors opening at 9am with tickets sold on a first come first served basis.

Too much hassle with no guarantee of getting ticket for that price. Only to be offered a £299 ticket with 3 plane changes and a 72 hour layover in Bangladesh no thanks

So presumably they're hoping all the people who miss out on a ticket will book a different flight or holiday - surely if you arrive there and see too many people there will be no point waiting around ?
The price is brilliant of course, but I fail to see the benefit to STA travel, unless there's going to be a huge amount of free advertising in the local area of the stores.
I thought an online entry form would get them a huge database of potential customers to use for mailshots or something, but I'm always a bit suspicious of things which appear too good to be true.

Last time STA did this for a £75 return ticket on Air New Zealand more than 60 smelly, grotty, dirty, cheapskates  camped outside the London Victoria branch for up to two days, trying to grab the 50 tickets on offer.
All 50 were sold out within an hour of going on sale, although those still in the queue were offered discounted fare tickets of £499 return - around half the price of a return air ticket.

The first 49 people in line at each location will be able to secure the £49 fares. Only one £49 fare will be able to be bought per person with no option to buy via telephone or online.
An additional 49 return tickets to Bangkok will be available for £299 at the London Victoria and Birmingham stores, which will be able to be booked with a £49 deposit
“Last year, when we unveiled £75 fares to New Zealand, there were people queuing around the block for two nights, so make sure that you’re prepared to give it 100% to snap up one of these £49 deals to Bangkok. Good luck!”

I remember that there were people camped out to get in! I suspect there will be people camped out two or three nights beforehand!

What prevents someone putting up a pop up tent and camping out and then have there friends join them around 5am on 28th. If your 49th in line there is no guarantee you would get a ticket. Waste of time unless your right at the front of the queue.
