Plenty of non mainstream customers, like pretty much anything. I use them for archiving things like photos, family movies as a backup to cloud or hard drive based devices since if they die you have no other backup.
Or if I want to take somethings to a friends house I can burn to disc and take that disc instead of a whole hard drive.
Also good for projects, that being said I prefer RW so I can reuse them later.
So in short theres a lot of people who still use them just not mainstream users.

I removed my laptops cd tray (just use downloaded iso's if i need a disc) and put a 1TB SSD in there instead

Thanks - just opened the CD tray to see if it still works and found an old windows installation disc in there. Very useful

Still extremely useful for SACD ISO for the two people that use the format like myself. Try getting hold of many a SACD these days, let alone for a decent price. Also try converting or playing back SACD ISO files. Many network streamers only support DSF files in 2 channel and I cannot think of any media streamer that even supports SACD ISO.

Have you not noticed the vinyl revolution?
Even Sainsbury's now have a section that sell VINYL!
I'm into it, almost as bad as back in the 60s 70s.
I have quite a few friends in the business, and guess what the next big thing they are telling me it will be....?
CASSETTES!
So don't go binning them ...just yet.

Got to be hard for Jack the lad down the pub or in the workplace these days, got to be getting far less revenue sideloading Kodi onto firesticks for people than selling DVD-Rs of latest movies and XXX compilations.

I still back up important data on dvd's and external hard drives for double security. I've been let down more often by external drives failing than dvd's not being readable. I hope optical discs will still be around a few years yet.

They make good bird scarers. Make a hole near the edge, attach a length of thread and hang in garden, they spin in the breeze and reflect any sunlight like a spinning light beam.

It's a reduced to clear line as they've moved to Verbatim branded products.

I'd get through 200 discs a week 7-8 years ago.
Haven't burnt one in about a year. Everything is NAS, USB stick or in the cloud.
Great price though for those that need them.
