Bad system i'm afraid. If you are wanting to link your phone or tablet to the system to view your cameras live you will have to download an app, unfortunately the app stopped working some months ago and Swann haven't contracted the company that built the app to fix the issue so you cannot connect to remote view. I now have a very expensive camera system that I bought purposefully for its remote viewing capabilities and Swann have stopped supporting the app. Cold from me, sorry.

Did you fit the wired window sensors? As I'm not sure what they are for? all seems a bit confusing especially the ethernet port for the cameras. Doesn't make sense. will have a proper look tommorow but not too impressed with the setup instructions.

Mine came today
My only concern is the siren is internal and not external
How is a burgular suppose to know my house has an alarm?
And if the siren is inside people on the outside wouldnt hear it as loud
Im i correct?
Might return it

You could always buy an external dunny box of you wanted. I suppose the cameras on show are a deterrent also.

I actually think that he thinks Scan is now Amazon since they take Amazon payments. It would be a bit like saying everyone is Paypal.
As for the google bit... no clue.

He's just saying that on Amazon, Scan are also selling it (and you can also pay through Amazon going via Scan's site) which may explain the comment from nictry. No idea what the other 3rd party sellers (ADMI) were selling at before the Scan price, but there are a fair few sellers considerably lower than the £499.99 Maplin price so it may not be such a great deal if they haven't lowered their prices to compete.

Agreed, Swann are crap for remote viewing, I find Kguard are the better option myself,

Have to also agree - Swann stuff is OK but the software is worse than awful. I briefly had one of their CCTV DVR's where the software was full of bugs and it kept crashing. Was advised by them to update the firmware.... which bricked it completely so was given a full refund. The remote viewing app was again OK but because the system kept crashing, so did the app. Seems they don't even bother to update their apps either as there is a different app for every product, most of them never get beyond version 1.0 as they just ditch them and move on to the next when a new product comes out.
Also got a couple of their standalone WiFi cameras. Hardware is great when it works - both need a hard power off every couple of days as they just stop responding. Also had to send three back as they went faulty within 24 hours of purchase, wouldn't connect to WiFi etc. Again the app to view them is OK but never updated and crashes frequently.
They seemingly adopt the same attitude to their hardware that they so with software. Look at their website and the range of products is confusing to say the least, they seem to bring them out and just abandon the old ones. I'm guessing they are offloading these as they've recently introduced a new range of smart home type integrated things called One. I spoke to the guys who install our security systems at work and their professional opinion of Swann is they are OK for domestic use but are not really professional despite them labelling some of their products that way.
Personally, if you are aware you're probably buying something that will be unsupported if things go wrong technically and might be left with a basic alarm system then this isn't a bad price, it's not particularly good either.

Most home security is about deterrent. An external siren box that looks newish and working is a big factor. Most burglars (of course not all) will prefer to find an unalarmed house, and there is usually at least one nearby. Would definitely recommend a box even if you bought this system or any other.

Nictry amazon and scan they both the same as on scan website u do have a option pay via amazon. The scan is supported by google. Maplin had them just over £400 and screwfix retail is £499 on their website. On ibbider people were placing bids today £175 + 20%vat and 23% commissions not counting delivery charge so in my opinion this is good deal.

Must admit its a bit of a bargain considering what you're getting. Looking at a couple of reviews it seems the cameras can connect to the DVR directly without using your home wifi. Similar generic Chinese kits with just the cameras go for around £200.

Normal price seems to be around £190 so not quite the bargain implied by the screwfix rrp
It says indoor/outdoor. Will update u tuesday as got one ordered today. Price is a bargain as only cams cost retail over ton.
