I find these things go from rock hard to rotten and miss out the 'edible' stage!

Keeping in the fridge saves the rotten stage, in your case you could just buy the 1 at a time. I eat them everyday.

An old trick put in a paper bag at room temperature with either a banana or apple. Fold paper bag a few times at the opening to form a seal. The banana or apple ripen emitting a gas which helps the avocados ripen quicker. usually 48hrs depending on the temperature/weather. works for plums, peaches, apricots etc

Kinda annoying the tesco 4 pack got replaced with this 3 pack. One less avocado for me per week :disappointed:

Global demand for avocado is out striping supply, new emerging wealth countries with population with cash like China and India are taking up surplus volumes and market prices are sky high at moment.

Putting a ripe kiwi fruit in your fruit bowl will ripen fruit fast. With the weather still quite cool it will take these avocados forever to ripen without a little help.

Been looking at where to buy cheaper since Morrison's keep putting the price up on their ripen at home pack. Thanks OP.
