No, the above link refers to the Plugs and Sockets, etc (Safety) Regulations 1994 and Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994 which stipulates the 3 pin plug (BS 1363) proviso.

If an EU company is delivering to the UK then they are intending for it to be sold in the UK and they must comply. The item page on the Amazon EU sites always tell you whether they are going to deliver to the UK or not on each particular product.

And that is why when I asked Amazon for a discount to keep the product and source my own BS 1363 approved plug they were more than happy to offer me 10% off (I've heard of 15% being given as well).

Just because they choose not to comply does not mean that they are not supposed to.

Unless I'm reading that incorrectly, it doesn't mention that they have to supply a 3 pin plug, just the plug that they supply has to adhere to the UK/EU safety regulations i.e carry a CE stamp. Lets be honest too, ordering something from one of those Amazons isn't always straight forward because sometimes they will tell you they don't deliver some electrical goods to mainland UK. Like i said previously, Amazon tend to play ball, whereas other companies won't if you've bought something that isn't aimed at the UK market.

Interesting, 10% off a phone or console price is a lot, will think about it thanks.

Amazon (.de, .fr etc) choose to ignore this, but they will compensate you.

I've done it a few times, most recently on a LG V10 I bought from Amazon.de - a quick email reminding them of their obligations when importing goods to the UK and of course they will not send you the proper lead ("we are not able to send spare parts"), but they did offer me 10% off the purchase price - more than enough to cover the correct conversion plug, or a new lead!

The delivery charge is still there but by paying in Euros (268.33 inc delivery) you avoid Amazon's currency conversion fees, so works out cheaper than paying in GBP if you can get a better exchange rate (e.g. using a zero-fee card like Halifax Clarity as topss suggests).

Equates to £213.57 using Friday's MasterCard exchange rate as used by Clarity. The exact price paid will fluctuate depending on the transaction settlement date.

Depends how you decide to pay. The DELIVERED to UK price is (as stated) EUR 213.10. Paying with (for example) a Halifax Clarity card, the conversion will be made by the bank using Mastercards 'Payment scheme exchange rate' which at the moment works out at £213.46. This card has zero Non-sterling Transaction Fees. There are other cards too, so it all depends on what card you hold, which is why I said 'works out at around'. Obviously you would need to make the payment in Euros, which in nearly all of these type of cases is better than paying in GBP.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
