Anyone know if it's multi-regional, will it play region free or region 1 blu-ray discs?

It's not multi-regional. It will play region free Blu-rays, but not region A locked.

There are no unlock codes I have been able to find. Cracking price though for a nice bit of kit

That's just the upscalling I assume, I've never heard of 1080i only Blu-Ray

1080i is standard HD TV and satellite signal distribution in the UK. Quite why anyone would want a downgrade from far superior 1080p Blu-ray produces tho is beyond me....

Sorry I think you misunderstood I mean a blu ray player that only outputs 1080i, can't say I've heard of one of them.
