I used to have one a few years back. It's really just a pack of plastic cards that you hook together to make a sphere. They look nice, but mine disintegrated (after 6 months or so) due to the heat from the bulb which I believe was one of the early low energy ones (it wasn't touching the bulb). It probably might be OK with an LED bulb.

thanks to OP by the way - my wife was looking at these in the range the other week but they were more expensive and didn't have in stock - hadn't thought to check the bay

We have one in our bedroom and utlity room really nice effect and gives us enough light for the bedroom but would not go for one in the living room. We are using 4W Led bulb.

Had them for years without issue. Never had to change the bulb either :smiley:

These things are a nightmare to put together, only if you like puzzles and have lots of time on your hands, I gave up on mine
