I would add more information, but I'm late for a family meeting. It's a busy life, being part of the Nvidia mafia! :man:

PowerColor have been around for many years, just not that well known. I would definately think about buying from this company.
Just had a quick looksies, this 390x is definately at least as good as a 980 and in fact beats it in many benchmarks, and is only a little behind the 980ti. It uses over 100watts than a typical 980 though in ful pelt, but with this kinda money, I don't think peeps will be worrying too much about the leccy bill.
Around the same price as a cheap 980, I would definately go for this one instead. Has future proofing in DX 12, which I know a lot of nvidia fanboys hate talking about!
One major issues in the fan noise, (maybe) one rates it about 56DB another at 42Db? WTH? 56 is wayyyy to loud but 42 is absolutely fine.
I would honestly wait for a little while, then there will be some good deals to be had
tomshardware heirachy isn't fully accurate, there are some cards which are better (faster) than ones above it, although I think they also take into account, TDP and features.... I think (which then it would be ok!)
Don't forget to a get a decent 80+ PSU. Would recommend 600-650watts it you're looking to overclock. if not then a 500W-550W PSU would be adequate
OK, maybe a bit more than a bit behind the 980ti. I also think Vidmarks benchmarks aren't too kind to AMD's cards, they also don't include the true benchmarks of Dual GPU's on one card.

What is this in terms of performance against nvidia cards. I mean what is this card closest to.

It is slightly better than a 980 at higher resolutions

I'm not sure it would be better than a 980ti in many games, but as far as performance/price goes it's better value

Never heard of PowerColor, any good?

They are OK but are very much a 2nd tier producer. Stick with someone like Asus or EVGA if you want bullet proof guarantees.

980ti equivalent.
General consensus is that in most real world situations is is not quite of good but it is £££ cheaper and it is certainly better than a 970 at the same price.
but....IF (and i say IF before the nerd rage starts) the press is to be believed, Nvidia have a new chip imminent with significant performance gains over current ranges. Probably best to pick up the 2nd /3rd best card (performance vs value sweet spot) from the new line up if u want hassle free eye candy gaming for another couple of years.

Patience update: Began July 2015. Waiting for Pascal or AMD's new GPU if it beats the Pascal and bring an end to the HBM drama.

980Ti versus 390X - obvious win for 980Ti.
980 versus 390X - trading blows.
970 versus 390X - 390X slightly better (although at nearly double the wattage).
