Jesus you might as well put the money down as a deposit on something good. Also 1080p looks bad on this. I returned mine.

I don't see the point in buying a 4KTV yet for a number of reasons:

1. All TV providers like Sky/FreeviewHD are still all running 720p/1080i streams
2. There's not alot of content, only streaming services like Netflix/Amazon Prime
3. By the time 4K gets bigger, due to 4K Blu-rays releasing the technology will get better and cheaper.

Non Smart but with that price , you can pick up a fire stick etc.. Cheap enough or even plug into a console/PC for the features. Heat added.

The HDMI issue has apparently been fixed with a software update, but it's not a 'real' 4K tv.

I had the latest firmware and experienced hdmi issues, but only when manually pulling the hdmi cable out then putting back in. (no picture). Had to restart the device. Not a big deal and not many would need to do it.

It has a great picture in daylight use so if using as a compute monitor only its great. If you intend watching a lot of Movies/TV on it unfortunately the Black levels are poor in low lighting which is why mine got sent back and i expect the reason this model has dropped in price a lot recently. Myself and many others returning i mean.
It had poor angles too. It Had a yellowish tint in the top right and left corner at not lo large an angle. Again only really visable in low lighting.

It's not a good set people. The 4K HDR protocol is only really on the marquee sets and this year's models. Your better going for the 2016 Hisense range if you want value for money.

Yh your right, I think the time frame is 30 days.

Please, do not buy it directly from a store. Pay for it online, and pick up in a store. This way you can return it if unhappy without problems - believe me this is crap TV. Saying this, price is quite shocking (like a picture). Secondly you still can collect a voucher.

I purchased the 43" and its an excellent TV for the money, image quality is excellent imo. My wife and I often comment on the quality of the picture on normal TV and with HD channels its excellent so maybe you see something I don't or there are different batches of screens.

I cant believe that you think the TV picture is shocking unless you had a broken TV. I have had many TV's over the years and currently have a Samsung and LG 32" Full HD in other rooms and the picture quality of the 43" Philips is definitely the best of all three whatever the input. I was worried when I purchased it due to other comments on here and I was looking for faults as I would have returned it if I found any but I cant fault the 43" version one bit.

But how much do they cost? If they are the same price then great but as with all technology it probably double the price and as I find the 43" picture on this excellent I would be amazed if HDR made that much of a difference. Maybe I have different eyes to others but most days I look at my TV and think isn't that picture excellent :-) so I would suggest others try this for themselves and return if its not up to their quality before judging some of the views on here.

I bought this and love it, upscaling is fine and comes down to what's being upscaled... PS4 and XBOX One look amazing, 4k media player is blindingly good, normal tv (non hd) fine, hd brilliant. Picture is darker in Eco mode (no surprise there) switch to Movie mode for vivid pictures. Paid £379.99 for mine and not a regret so far. Also have a Samsung curved and UHD Sony so not a case of not knowing any better :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you mean by not "real 4K" ? I thought all 4K TVs had the same resolution (which is significantly lower than 4K).

It doesn't matter how much you like it, you won't get your hands on one unless you buy one from Europe. I was on the phone only yesterday asking why you can't get their high-end TVs in this country. She said the only place that stocks them in UK is Euronics. Called Euronics and they said they know nothing about it :laughing:

I'm using the 43" version as my pc monitor and for me it's perfect. It looks every bit as good as the 28" monitors it replaced and picture quality in 4K is fantastic. I haven't experienced any of the issues others have mentioned. As for the it's not proper 4K ??? 4K is the resolution, HDR is High Dynamic Range - nothing to do with resolution.

Haven't you heard of Freeview? Or are you one of the Sky users who gets he Sky basic package and pays for the same channels?!!

I will never buy UltraHD TV until the are "full" UltraHD, which means motion resolution = 2160 lines. Soap opera effect (SOE) is not what I want paying plenty of money, sorry... Now TVs insert black frames or do interpolation, but it's still not enough... ridiculous if majority of TVs have motion-resolution BELOW (!!!) FullHD (1080p) standard, like 900 lines or so. They will not make me a "simpel" money-donor for FullHD-like TV and picture-frame-UltraHD in one.

they are becoming the standard maybe but I wouldn't choose one TV over another for Smart features, which can be added to any TV for the price of a £10 Now TV box, if your existing equipment doesn't already provide a far better experience e.g. any current gen or even last gen games console will provide a better range of apps and performance than the limited selection on most Smart TVs.

To me Smart TV is a gimmick to get the average consumer to think the TV with the Smart features offers something over the one without, when in reality it offers very little and you would probably be better off with the none smart one because the money might have gone towards important features like quality of the panel you actually watch rather than pointless bells and whistles....

I agree. I'm waiting for a 4K OLED to become affordable in a few years. Until then I'm sure my 1080p plasma gives superior picture quality to these budget 4K screens people are getting suckered in by.

Nope, for freeview channels in the EPG that are delivered via internet.

bought it for £350 the day ebay did the 20% off voucher. All i wanted was a tv that had a decent panel, not interested in the sound function or any smart addons as have that already. Picked it up, home and got it out of the box and noticed just how cheap and bulky it looked. Pretty much as soon as i turned it on noticed the screen had banding on it. Back int he box and got a replacement. Home, same issues. Even at that the display was pretty poor quality. Decided to cut my losses and got something else. Woman in argos mentioned that a few people had brought them back. You get what you pay for I suppose.

The wifi dongle is purely to update the freeview channels and for an epg, thats it. No other smart functions. It also wont work out of the box, you need a firmware update, which you need to manually download and put on a usb to get it updated.

Bought the 55" version of this, this morning. It all seems good to me, haven't tried any native 4K stuff yet but after a bit of adjusting my PS4 games are looking good as is my Netflix etc. Think people are forgetting just how cheap these actually are. £439 for a 55" 4K TV, ludicrous value for money unless you want to have the best of the best. End of the day it's a TV

I had a Freeview HD TV about 6 years ago. I'm sure it had an EPG without an internet connection?

Yes, the EPG comes through the aerial, there are a couple of channels in it that are broadcast via the Internet. Not sure of top of my head, in the 200's I think.

If it's just a TV then just get a cheaper 720p set. Why get this!

I got this in store at 349.99 and can't recommend it enough. Just make sure you follow update process carefully by downloading the correct file from the Philips site and extract it to the root directory of a USB drive, pop it in the back of the TV and switch on and it will automatically detect the update and give on screen instructions. Once TV reboots just adjust the sound and picture settings to your liking. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes. I just use a tutor watching TV and have no idea how it performs as a gaming screen and what any of the other technical specs are for the 4k screen, all I know of it looks perfectly fine to me and betterquality than my previous 1080p screen.

Just got one I can see vertical faint lines on it in bright areas. Any of yours?

​No nothing like that at all, I'm still loving mine with no issues. I'd take it back if that's what you're seeing (maybe to another branch as these things are usually shipped in batches) :wink:
