Each to their own I suppose. In my opinion the Wii U is easily the best console for children of all ages, it's also the best family console. A great feature for families with a toddler and old children is the Gamepad; so you don't have to sacrifice the main TV in the living room. Also it's great for nostalgia, I buy games for the kids just for that reason alone. Children have to experience Mario and Zelda etc. Half the junk on Xbox One and PS4 are the same as the 360 and PS3 so may as well own those instead as a lot cheaper and a much bigger library of games. No child needs more than 20 games in reality so you could pick 20 amazing games for children on the Wii U and actually enjoy playing with them as a family.

Great, great console, truly. Solid hardware with an eclectic library of games, a dozen or so absolutely essential playing - in my opinion - and unlike trollers who snipe from the sidelines having never owned OR played said console or games, I own and have played them all.

Don't do this, many of the kids games for the PS4 and Xbox One are not great. I recently got a Wii U to go with our Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS3. Turns out it's probably the best console out there for fun family gaming, 4 player Mario Kart and Nintendo land with the kids is great fun.
If you want to play FPS games or GTA then sure get a PS4 or Xbox One but for great family/kids games Wii U is far better than the PS4 or Xbox One. The only exception might be if you kids only want to play Minecraft in which case a PS4 or Xbox One would be better.
only after the op edited the title. the current title was just posted as a link in the first comment. which he deleted also.

Is this Wii U gonna be good gift for 5year old Lad? Is it possible to download games or just buy them in shop ?

Cannot comment about the first part but games can be bought as both online downloads and in shop.

You can buy games in the shops, although it's much easier and cheaper buying them online.
For a 5 year old it's a great buy, especially if you plan to play multiplayer with him. Our kids love the Mario platform games (New Super Mario Bros U, Super Mario 3D World) and the party games (Wii U Party, Mario Party 10). Nintendoland is great fun with 2-4 players too. Check out Mario Chase, Yoshi's Fruit Cart or Luigi's Ghost Mansion on YouTube.
The Wii U gets slagged off by XBox/PS4 owners but it's actually a great console if you're playing with kids. (Another really good exclusive is Lego City Undercover.)

Yes it is mario kart and lego city are the best my kid loves em and we still play 2 player wooly world I dont think we will ever actually finish that, he also likes pikmin 3 which I downloaded off eshop and he likes to watch me playing splatoon but he doesn't play that himself as its online and he will get marmerlised, its the best online shooter, fast and furious not for the amateurs like slow kids tbh.
Also xenoblade x is the best rpg since ff7 I've put 400 hours into it now, but thats not for kids, I dont think a 5 year old would be very good at it, probably enjoy driving and flying round the planet in the mech tho.

Get him an xbox or a playstation, there's a tremendous amount of games for all ages and there will still be games being released for those platforms in 5 years. Won't be the case with wii u.

The Wii U is by far the best choice of console for kids that age. It has the most magical, creative and engaging games for the minds of children... any Nintendo console always has and probably always will.
The game that's bundles with this deal though is strictly for the hardcore RPG fan parents, though... just so you know.
