Really? I've had a filter kettle for years, and don't get limescale build up, and I'm in a hard water area. Also there is a clear difference in taste.

How long do filters last

It says it lasts about a month.
You can however use the kettle as a 'normal' kettle without the filter if you wish. It depends on what your tap water is like.

It depends how often you use it. It tells you when it needs changing.. Ours lasted 3 months as we only drink one or two cups of tea a day. But it's a fantastic, quiet, quick boiling kettle. Can only recommend!
I remember a test on these filters found them to be next to useless.

I know some people that wouldn't drink their tap water without them, can you provide a link to this "test" please.

Bought one around 6 weeks ago, replaced filter last week. Bought from Flubit, came in a little cheaper than this current Amazon offer - which is good price by the way.
See if you can grab some filters from Argos I purchased 24 filters for £43 something using HOME25 code. I guess that does mean I'm committed to Brita kettles now! (see link below and final comments re code).
As for the kettle, excellent and very quick boiling. Finally got rid of the other half's whislting kettle which took forever and broke the week before I got this. We live in a hard water area and I was fed up spitting out limescale or whatever it is...I have a habit of drinking every last drop! My tea has never tasted better, whether that is entirely down to the filter I couldn't say but I'm very happy with the kettle.

Limescale maybe, but not for what they advertise them as.
