Game of the year for me. Story is insane but the missions are so much fun to play through. This is a long game that will keep you coming back for more. The intro is like something from a blockbuster movie. For £15 you can't go wrong for this.

It painfully repetitive, going to the same handful of locales and doing the same missions over and over.
The open world maps are badly designed and lifeless.
The story is pathetic, the characters lack any 'life'. Most of the trademark MGS humor is gone as have the creative and inventive boss fights.
It's a grinding game where you have to keep doing the same crap just to get any decent weapons and equipment. Then when you do get to the good stuff, the game suddenly becomes way too easy.
The whole game is uneven and unbalanced.
It does have a few good moments, but they really are few and far between.
Worst MGS game by far.
Worth about £10 tops.

Its the first MGS game thats tempting me because of its open world style gameplay and lack of emphasis on stealth - i've read you don't have to stealth everything.
You are still stuck reading hours of text for the story (cassette's) though again this is based on reviews I've read.
Good price though.

You could, if you want, avoid stealth all together. Go guns blazing with RPG's and LMG's. You do get rewarded for stealth as it is a stealth based game but it is not a requirement and you won't be punished for it. Most of the story is played out in cut scenes and the rest is on cassette tapes which you don't need to listen to but obviously they add to it.

You talking about the same game? This, IMO, is not a grinding game. Yeah, you need to level up your R&D to get better weapons but this can be done playing through the story missions and staying on top of actions at mother base. I've never had to repeat missions just to get gear. The game has an average rating of 95% on meta critic with an average of 7.2/10 from user reviews. So pretty good review wise.
Uneven and ubalanced? I'm intrigued. What do you think makes the game unbalanced? It seems pretty solid to me.

Excellent price. I enjoyed it but I agree that the side missions are quite repetitive. I just take different buddies out with me so I haved to approach things slightly differently. The storyline is bats**t crazy as expected.

I like it. I never liked previous MGS games. A 20 minute playable campaign padded out with 8 hours of cutscenes. Yeeeehh that's what I like slapping 40 quid on the counter for.
