Great deal for a very powerful SDS Hammer Drill, much better than the Bosch I posted a while back.

Got mine today, quick test on the old shed base in the garden. Solid concrete turned to butter. Not sure how I've done 2 houses without one...

Had the same problem last week and chosen this one, its cheaper, comes with £20 worth of bits, and corded = more power
I bought it for £103, drill goes through concrete wall like butter! chisels same! Very happy with it.

Never heard of this brand. Better stick to big names like Bosch or Black & Decker. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Majors is just as big a brand as the above. We sell all the above brands and Makita are the choice for me every time over Bosch and De Walt.
Black and Decker are a diy tool and not a pro tool like Makita, Bosch blue or De Walt.

A real man is stubborn and refuses to give in to the might of power tools - try using your teeth as an alternative to the SDS hammer drill action and just use a drill bit a spin it in your hand as fast as you can to drill holes in the wall! Admittedly these techniques take slightly longer but once you have succeeded then you are a proper man! Or you could just buy the drill... Choice is yours!

I've bought my first house. I want this so I can feel like a real man! Unfortunately, my dad has a ton of drills which I can borrow when needed and doubt i'll get enough use to justify spending a ton on it but I really want some proper power tools of my own. Without my own power tools I feel like a far lesser man :disappointed: (having a slight crisis I think)

No worries, The post snapped of in the ground when a rather short helpful neighbour was lifting a sofa over a 3ft high fence post... Snap!!! goes the fence, now snappyfish has to remove old concrete and the rest of the post on the ground.

Can this be used to break up some concrete stuck to a wooden fence post?

Easily, but watch out as the fence might not survive. This is a beast.

I can't decide to take a plunge here or wait for better deal on DHR242Z, which currently is around 60 dearer with no battery.

Unless you regularly work on sites with no power, go with corded every time on a hammer drill. So much less hassle having to charge the battery / have multiple ones.
So many times I've come across a job that needed use of the hammer drill more than I thought, that I ended up going back to corded for it.
For normal drills though, battery is fine (easier, last ages), but hammer drills with a chisel etc. in will eat the battery.
