Had one of these for two years now and can highly recommend. Only negative point would be the collection box as its fiddly to attach and fills up very quickly. I use it without box then rake up the cuttings. Pain in the **** job but this machine makes it heaps easier.
Lidl or Aldi sell one as well but I burnt two motors out within a week so went for this instead.

Good to know. I've got some large lawns with 7 years of moss and thatch buildup so its going to get a good test. Was also looking at the screwfix scarifier, I missed the £60 deal last year. Every used one I see goes for £40-60 so I thought just get a new one.

Hopefully the 1800w motor is better than the usual 1200-1400w you see in this range.

Be careful not to have kids playing close by when using this, stones can be flicked out and also wear eye protection.

I've used these before...yes...slight pain in the butt with the collector, but great results compared to doing it by hand. saves hours of hand raking....and blisters!

I've done both...this bad boy is the way forward, will last for years.

if you've got a tiny lawn, do it by hand, but big lawns or multiple lawns...you'll never look back...have some heat. :smiley:

I have an old black and decker raker which I use a couple of times a year on on a large lawn. It isn't very good to be honest, but hand raking does my back no good at all these days.... so I persevere and it takes ages. This looks more substantial, powerful and useful with the scarifier, so for just over £60 I am happy to give it a try (3% quidco there too).

I agree with a previous comment about the box, for any decent size lawn I wouldn't bother. Do it without, collect the worst of the piles of thatch and then a couple of goes with the lawn mower cleans things up... much easier than the rake.

Have you ever tried raking moss out just using a hand rake? This takes all the back braking pain away.

I tried doing some by hand at the weekend and it took me five minutes to properly rake just 1 sq meter of lawn plus got a sore back into the bargain.

Just to follow up. Got chance to use mine today and really impressed with it. I'd say for very small lawns its maybe overkill. The unit is fairly wide, heavy duty feel and just the job for my large lawns. Quite amazing how quickly I did half the lawn. I love how wide this thing is.

The collector box is pretty useless if you've got a neglected lawn. I guess when I have my lawns back to good condition, using this box would be okay just to keep on top of things.
