Since you ask.... I'm heavily invested in getting a new TV myself (55-inch region) and I do my research well.
In my opinion, stay clear on Samsungs, even the 2016 models suffer from viewing angle issues.
LG are very good indeed, not had a chance to check this particular model, but if this LG set lacks HDR and is poor with motion, then save for a 2016 model.
Sonys are slow, Panasonic have shocking warrantee support.
More info when I get a chance

Yes, without any shadow of a doubt. The only way the Sammy beats the LG is if you look dead-on. If you want a TV in a family environment, then go Sony or LG.
It's a shame really as the Sammy interface and menus are fantastic, it's just a shame they are stuck with Curved screens (presumably because they signed a long term agreement with a curved screen manufacturer) and are now stuck with them while the competition leave them in their dust

Thanks for the reply.
Wow, didn't expect that in regards to the Samsung range. So LG would tend to be better than Samsung generally?
Interested in this..... but need to go have a look at one in the flesh.
Most LG's are IPS panels which aren't quite as good as VA where blacks are concerned, but better for viewing angles.... I'm looking for one for my bedroom where I watch in near darkness. My previous plasma (Kuro) has an intermittent fault which means it needs to be replaced. Trying to avoid any LCD with edge lit LEDs though as my friends have had plenty of issues with them whilst watching in darker rooms (you can see the lights at the edge during dark scenes).
HDR..... not a deal breaker when you're looking at a £800 60 inch TV as the typical user won't really care at this price point. The OLED I almost bit the bullet on was £6k.
Reviews aren't as widespread which isn't helpful.
Figured that I'm gonna get a mid range or so 4K screen, and the money I saved upgrade my main TV to an OLED when prices and tech settle.

No wonder, they no longer make TVs and just license the brand to Vestel, JVC, Arcelik and some Chinese outfits with unpronounceable names. Pioneers too, just rebadged TCLs and Thomsons. The masses go crazy for their brands.

Skype are discontinuing support for TVs from June, so that's not really a dealbreaker

Has LG got rid of the ultra annoying global dimming feature yet? Pretty much the only thing that sways me from LG the last couple of years.

LG used to use the same panel's as Panasonic but the processing of the images wasn't anywhere near the same level, esp on sport & games - lots of motion blur. Have they sorted that out yet? It's been 3-4 years since i've looked into buying.

Sammy all day long. Although I've heard the webOS on the LG is better

Sammy only all day long if you sit directly in front of all. The slightest angle and its no picture all day

From the few reviews and user forums I can find the input lag is 60ms making it a poor choice for gaming. Shame really as I'd be all over it otherwise.

Great TV. I bought the 55in version a week ago. It's great for normal programmes and movies, especially the LG OS, which is brilliant - LG arguably have the best application functionality and aesthetics.
The TV provides strong colour and the blacks are good too, good in daylight and at night.
The magic remote it comes with is incredible; it's got a lot of functions including: voice control (that actually works); multi-functionality - can use it to control your sky box; aesthetically pleasing.
Richer Sounds 6 year guarantee makes this TV an incredible purchase - I want to trade in my 55in for this #AlwaysWantMore
Be aware: I read reviews on rtings.com that gave it a 6/10 rating because it *apparently* isn't great for sports and gaming. But still a great TV for me!

Anybody own this TV and can offer some honest pros and cons?
Majority of reviews seem positive, with the odd negative.
Looking at either this TV or the Samsung 55JU6800. (5 inch less screen for roughly same price...but is it better?)

Exactly what I'm after, provided the input lag for games is good. Anybody with this telly able to confirm whether this is any good for gaming?
