Well don't expect it to do a lot. The only way to achieve the peak 400a output is by shorting the leads together (just full load and almost zero volts). In real life this unit will be lucky to assist an ailing car battery by more than 100a (a vehicles ecu requires around 9.6v to stop it shutting down). The leads themselves are far too thin to carry an 400a load and they incorporate a fuse much lower than 400a.....what does that tell you?

I bought one of these about 2 months ago, for those who say it wont jump start start a car due to being under powered. Ive started my 2.0L Vauxhall insignia twice with it and it still had plenty juice left in it after my battery died.

Its much bigger, depends on how flat your battery is, how big your engine is, diesel or petroleum.

Annoying reviews as they are reviews on all 3 items not just the jump starter.

Something doesn't add up, 10000mha @ 12v would be 120Wh, not 37Wh?

It's based on individual cell voltage of 3.7V. Yes, misleading.

Cheers, didnt know that.
However I never count reviews that state they were given the item to test for free of which 6 of those reviews are.

Does a P38 mean anything to you? Strange question I know.

400 Amps. You'd need cable like a winch cable for that.

I've got the Anker version of this, currently £60 and it has started my 2.2 diesel van several times. I think you'd get around 5 - 6 starts out of a single charge although I've always recharged it after 4 just in case. Definitely hot at this price.

These small lithium jump starters surprisingly good better than the old large SLA battery ones
Yes they have fairly small jump start leads ,only need very short duty cycle
Voltage drop small even on small diameter cables because they are so short
Longer your cables are larger cross-section they need to be to avoid volt drop when pulling high amps
You dont need big cross section cables on these for approx 200amp jump start (400 amp is peak current)

Thanks for telling all these people who are talking out of their as**s saying they won't work, when they have never tried one. They DO work, obviously they won't start a lorry, an F1 car or a car thats been stood on the drive fo 5 years, but in an emergency for an ordinary car they are ok. Also when you are stuck in the middle of nowhere get back to your car and find that you left your lights on so your battery is flat, I guarantee that your phone battery will also be flat. These units usually have a USB port so keep a phone charger cable with it.

Yes for there size I think they are amazing ,as for the jump start leads on these there so short so no volt drop
and will stand 200/300 amp for short time
Work better than your average jump leads jumping from another car imo
Agree with you lots comments from people who have not used them talking out there as**ss
Off the subject a bit they work as great power bank for go to computerized Telescopes
Far better than than telescope makers Will sell you

You are quite right, I have never tried ONE..... I have tested HUNDREDS of returns of similar products and even the larger 800 peak amp version has never achieved more than 160 amps at 9.6 volts under load. So like I said, these will assist a weak vehicle battery but not a completely fubar one (it may get you out of trouble if you are lucky but otherwise just use it as a standy for mobile phone or tablet).

Yep, when i bought mine, there were loads of comments on the thread saying it wouldn't work or only charge once, I bought one and they were talking out there as* I bought this to be used as an emergency, not for constantly charging my battery which it has proved it self on more than one occasion.

There are many youtube videos of people starting cars with no battery installed at all, just the jump box onto the cables. Not tiny city cars either. First hit is a guy with a 2.4 v6. Granted it only ran for a few seconds but started it all the same.
While I don't have any interest in buying one to start a car with. But having one to keep power to a car while I do a battery swap is more appealing.

Have used one was quite surprised did have fairly flat batt just starter clicking
Left on battery for few min before trying so hope fully picked battery up bit before trying
Started ok what more can you ask off it ,sorry did not have amp/volt to test cranking volts/amps
Was just glad it worked yes you can use jump leads but no use if dont have another car to jump off
These little things are life saver well worth keeping in your car
Seems a similar spec, but slightly more ££ (although available)
Did about 3 jumps off one charge. Was a life saver. The puny cables get warm, thats my only 'negative'. Video of it in action. http://youtu.be/YJzl6KhHya0
Just used it this weekend to kick start my FTO from its winter sleep.

Many years ago I studied electronics so when I first saw the size and the claimed performance for these I fell of my chair laughing. Then I tried one out on a car that's been standing for months with a completely dead battery. I expected a big flash and the smell of melting battery case but was stunned when it started the car. I'm still puzzled by how it did it, but it certainly does it.

I got one delivered just before the weekend from ebay.
Stuck it into the car and tried to jump start. Not sure what went wrong but a pile of smoke came billowing out of the device and i quickly disconnected the cables. Its completely f**ked.
Safe to say the jury is out for me.

Surely though the chances are that when you need to use something like this it will also have discharged, with being sat in the boot for 6months? May as well buy a cheap lead acid battery and charge it every couple of months.

Used a similar device when my smart alternator (2.3 ltr diesel) wasn't smart enough. I'm a retired engineer and understand the math's but the pocket size of these things makes the performance remarkable.
