This from the Which? product review for this particular machine:
What can I expect from a Indesit washing machine?
Our results show most Indesit washing machines are uninspiring at best. In 2011, three of its models produced some of the lowest test scores we've ever seen. While machines tested in more recent years have shown an improvement, we haven't tested a single Indesit since 2011 that's scored highly enough to be a Best Buy (at the time of writing in December 2014).
Not that it would matter anymore if it did. Our latest reliability survey has found Indesit is one of the least reliable brands of washing machine. As a result, no future high-scoring Indesit model will qualify as a Best Buy unless it comes with a free five-year parts and labour warranty.
Its washing machines are not that popular with its owners, either. In our latest survey, it scored just two stars for customer satisfaction. According to the same survey, almost 90% of Indesit washing machine owners decided to switch to a different brand last time they upgraded their washing machine.

You cannot compare any product from 20 odd years ago with the same brand today, for a few reasons that was probably made by indesit before it tried to become a much bigger company, before they went on a spending spree and then killed other brands like hotpoint. Before they went for the cheaper end of the market, before they changed their approach and were eventually bought out. But the final reason, with the exception of cars most things back then were built to last, unfortunately now they are built for a life cycle, sadly some companies build to a much less life cycle than others.

Me neither.
My last one only lasted 24 years.
I'm just glad I won it and didn't have to pay for it.

OK heat for price but take out an extended 3-5 year warranty... You're going to need it. There's a saying: "Buy cheap, buy twice".

Make sure you have the extended labour warranty, even if they have a parts warranty.
