I doudt it will work with a q6600 , that I believe would require a 775 board.

good for those who need something to run their ix-4xxx
bad for anyone who needs M.2 NVMe at full speed, thunderbolt, UCB 3.1, etc

sure but , that would cost a few pounds more , I do not yet have a M2 , but I do have SSD which is pretty much fast enough for me ,

Someone that needs NVME, Thunderbolt and USB 3.1 won't have a budget of £55.
This is a great board for the price.

It says support for Intel Pentium.. Does that mean I can install a quad core Pentium processor (2.5ghz) ?
I thought the New processor sockets were different?

Intel Pentium line has been going for 20 years, every generation has them.
Which cpu do you mean? There are no quad core Pentium processors that you can slot into a motherboard

Gigabyte are often good for things like a Thunderbolt header, etc, for those who want to add Thunderbolt at a later date but even though this is very much a budget-centric board that lacks quite a few features like a Thunderbolt header and USB 3.1 (at the time, I kept holding out for Gigabyte releasing a USB 3.1 revision, like ASUS and others were with some of their popular Z97 boards) and the bios not the most informative if you're looking to overclock, the features that it does have are mainly high quality versions, compared to some of the competition, few compromises or corners cut to meet its price, which is even better, now, at £55. Though being one of those middle child boards that got neglected by a lot of reviewers, it was particularly popular on the forums, often partnered with the G3258 and hitting some great overclocks, though latterly quad core became the mantra with gamers and even Tom's shifted over to i3 cpus in their budget gaming build challenges for i3's hyper threading for generally smoother game play in some games. The motherboard itself has remained a popular choice with system builders for quite a few years, now. I was tempted at one point but when I looked into retro fitting some of the features that I want, like a type A and type C USB 3.1 card, etc, the price with those features included has me holding off for something else, where I can keep the PCI-E slots free. Good board, though, especially if you can score a good deal on a Haswell i3/i5/i7, though such deals seem to be frustratingly few and far between, at the moment. Heat added for ebuyer having it in stock!

That's not a Pentium and it also a very old processor. You need to make sure that the socket, which this motherboard is 1150, matches the cpu, which the q6600 is 775. So well not work. You are not really going to be able to buy a new motherboard for that processor, they do not make them anymore. You need a second hand Intel socket 775 motherboard
