If you fancy a lovely two weeks in Jamaica then check out this amazing all inclusive beachfront holiday. You will stay at the lovely Samsara Resort in Negril which has near 4/5 ratings on TripAdvisor and actually has better reviews than higher rated properties and, in my opinion, looks lovely. You can find alternative accommodation that is bed and breakfast or half board if you wanted to reduce the cost further. There are also cheaper resorts but this one looks lovely.
Flights are with Thomson Dreamliner 27/04 until 11/05 and as hold luggage is £60pp I've just included one bag between two adults. You can each take 5kg of hand luggage each so pack light.
Breakdown
Flights for 2 £738 (hand luggage each and 1 20kg hold case between 2 adults) book at Thomson Airlines.
2 weeks at the Samsara Resort book at lowcostholidays.com £1191.96 (potential to get hotel cheaper if you know anyone with a studentbeans account but not sure what the terms and conditions are).
Book transfers at hoppa.com using code SUMMER20 £25.98
Total £1955.94/£977.97pp

3 star in the Caribbean = no thank you , we stopped in Jamaica on our cruise and 10 passengers where robbed of watches , chains , rings . we love the Caribbean but not this island , its not safe anywhere .

I don't think the star of the hotel necessarily means the crime will be more or less. If I was a criminal and wanting to steal from people I'd be thinking I'd get more from people staying in a 5* resort than a 3* one! I've heard some horror stories about people going wandering out of their resort in Jamaica but I guess it's being cautious. I wouldn't go wandering around most places in the Caribbean wearing expensive watches and jewellery. Just my opinion.....

Well have been to Jamaica twice (Ocho rios) & found it amaizing there are good & bad areas in every country. Personally though I'd rather go to the Caribbean any day of tea week than Europe!

Somehow I don't believe the above. Jamaica have it's crime issues but robbing 10 (nice round figure) from one crew ship is unheard off. Give me the date and what port you docked in and I can check this if it's true. Was it reported to a police station?

Walking around dripping in gold watches, chains and rings is 'ASKING FOR IT' in the UK let alone anywhere else. Learn, move on and don't let it stop you traveling.

Their are some amazing hotels on the island , but the crime rate against tourists is the highest amoung all the Caribbean islands .

I went to Jamaica last year in October at first I was reluctant to go out there because of all the scare mongering, I had a brilliant time the people were very friendly and the food was great, I am planning on going again and I would definitely recommend going out there and if you do make sure you go to Dunns River and Mistic Mountain. And yes I did come back with all my limbs intact and all my permissions.

Try telling the lady from our cruise who got her camera , phone , wedding and engagement ring stolen at knife point . 10 reported robberies at that port stop , none at any of the other 9 ports .

Sorry also forgot to mention as with anywhere it's about being mindful, you wouldn't wonder around in some areas in England on your own or walk around with a Rolex hanging of your wrist, or walk around with cash falling out of your pockets, so why would you go abroad and do it.

if you go, do the "one love bus" Lenbert is a star, got his email address if you need it. Dunns is good, Mayfield is much better, natural and quiet. 4 of us paid 100usd for a taxi for the day. Took us wherever we wanted to go.

Dont do it!
Barbados is nicer but even that wasnt much better than jamaica (although crime is much lower...)
Genuinely - nicer resorts around europe... I'd sooner to barcelona than barbados/jamaica tbh

Yeah - crime low in barbados... But it wasnt a great place for more than about a week/ten days i thought. We splashed out on the hotel (not naming it as i'll get calls of bs...) and although lovely to lie onthe beach al day - get the bus to bridgetown and the fish place (oistins??) it was a bit repetitive. I'd hate to live there.
At least in barca you have things to see... Places to go... Yeah, you wont find a stunning waterfall when youre trekking - but - i thought barbados was over rated.
Lovely people though... Nice boutuque shops (picked up a tag for 35% cheaper than uk..) but its very sporadic i thought.
Great golf course, if thats your bag...

I agree, there wasn't as much to do as some places, I only went for a week so didn't get bored. I too went to Oistins and also went on boats trips to swim with turtles etc which was amazing!
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, with lovely food, people and beaches you see on a postcard then it's the place for you!

Voted hot based on Flight/Hoppa which i've used in Jamaica (Tropical Tours is mostly provided) however I wouldn't recommend Negril for a two week holiday unless you want to stay on the resort for two weeks which Samsara doesn't seem to be the all-inclusive type of resort like Bahia Principe, RIU or Sandals/Beaches and the likes in Jamaica.
Negril has become a ghost town in the past few years (Was there in January for a few days) and have lived in Jamaica for years (travelled whole island) and visited 10s of times since.
If you stay in Negril and want to visit any main attractions you'll be travelling 3.5hrs to get to Dunns River Falls (Ocho Rios), Bob Marley museums (Kingston) etc and this cost will counter staying in cheaper accommodation on the other side of the island. Food is also expensive on-resort in Negril as there aren't many other options unless you venture outside of the hotel. An all-inclusive may even work out cheaper once alcohol etc is added.
However if you're looking to just chill out and not do anything this may be useful but i'd much more recommend staying in the St Ann parish (Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay) etc.
Rick's Cafe is a great place to jump off the 35ft cliff but Negril isn't that great for two weeks.. as most will become bored unless your hotel has a lot of amenities.

Ocho Rios was the port , and there was 3500 tourist on our ship and 4300 on the Royal Caribbean ship . It very very common when cruise ships come in they get targeted , as a seasoned cruiser customer and also being a frequent Caribbean holiday maker . And I follow the P&O and Royal Caribbean Facebook pages where these crimes are talked about all the time . Jamaica has the highest crime rate against tourists in the Caribbean FACT .

I appreciate you've said you lived in Jamaica but I can assure you Negril has definity not become a ghost town! Investment is up, the number of bars and restaurants are increasing, Bloody Bay (some say unfortunately) is getting more hotels (new Royalton is latest 600 room all-inc opening later this year with a second Sandals/Beaches resort also planned between the two Rius). I've stayed there most years for a long time and have also stayed in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay a few times. Hands down no argument that Negril is much more of a resort than either of those two. Ochi is just a tourist port for the cruises with not much more than a concrete town to facilitate them whilst Montego Bay basically lives off its name and reputation from 20 years ago and needs a lot doing to it to bring it back to what it once may have been..
Looks like you just don't like Negril which, as it's all about opinions is fair enough, but to say that its a ghost town when you've been there so much is clearly not correct.
Yes Dunns River Falls is too long a day out for most, but don't forget there's the YS Falls, Mayfield Falls, the Black River, Pelican Bar, the Love Bus!, the West End with all its cliff-side restaurants, the Water Park (albeit only open 6 months a year), sunset cruises, Rick's, plus all the attractions between Negril and Montego Bay such as the Dolphin Cove (which I certainly don't endorse but it's an 'attraction'), Luminous River etc. It's also got two of the best and most beautiful beaches in the world (no exaggeration) with bars, live venues, boutique hotels and both 4-5 star family and 'adult only' resorts all along. Even Hedonism II had a big renovation recently (I believe!). A ghost town? not at all.

I've been to New York and I was advice not to come off the tour bus in certain location. Every where has crime. It is best to hear form the tour guide or some one at the hotel where are the no-go areas. It is still to wonder off in any country as if you are a resident. Play it safe every where you go. Jamaica is very beautiful and most people there are warm and friendly and will make you feel welcomed. It it was that bad people would not be going year after year. At least you don't have to be scared of being bombed in the Caribbean lol.
