On 8th October you'll fly from Birmingham to Bangkok with KLM, arriving on the 10th October as these flights have a full day and night in Amsterdam which is a bonus in my eyes! You'll overnight in Amsterdam at the Park Inn which is at the airport but it's easy to get into the centre. You'll then fly on 9th October to Bangkok, arriving on 10th where you'll spend just two nights in Bangkok at the River View Guest House which is highly rated and near the riverbank and Chinatown area of Bangkok ideal for getting around but in a quiet area.
On the evening of 12th April you'll take the sleeper train to Chiang Mai. You'll arrive in Chiang Mai on the 13th October and spend 4 nights in Chiang Mai at the highly rated Romyen Garden Resort. There should be plenty of time to enjoy an elephant trek or even head up to the hippie town of Pai, do some hiking or hire a moped.
On 17th you will fly from Chiang Mai to Phuket with Air Asia. You'll spend just 1 night in Phuket at the highly rated Little Moon Residence as you'll be catching the ferry on 18th, the next day to Phi Phi. On 18th you'll catch the ferry to Phi Phi and spend 5 nights chilling out at the Viking Nature's Resort which again comes highly rated. I've based you there for 5 nights but if you wanted you could also head to Krabi and split your time but I think Phi Phi is nicer in terms of accommodation available.
On 23rd you'll catch the ferry back to Phuket where you will stay for another night at the Little Moon. If you left your main luggage there you can also collect it. On 24th you will fly back to Bangkok for a final night at the River View Guest House before your flight back home.
This is just as example and you could adjust this to suit. There are cheaper options in terms of accommodation but I've picked ones that are highly rated. You could also take bus journeys which may be cheaper, although longer than flying.

Did you (or I) miss the cost of the overnight in Park Inn, or is that included with KLM?

It's actually included I just forgot to add it onto the breakdown but it is included in the price.

This is excellent work. We did something very much the same last year. If anyone's interested, if you wait till November thomson flights drop in price and they fly direct from London we paid £280 for return flights on the dreamliner to phuket, I would recommend not staying in phuket and doing something like this person has put together. The only thing I would change here is the hotel in patong, it's the most aweful place I've ever been to in my life! And get a hotel in phuket town which is a lot nearer to the port where you pick up your ferry, we took a bus to patong and lasted 2 hours! Thailand is absolutly lovely and so are the people.

I'm sorry that it was felt that my comment, and the two replies to it, were deleted. I take it that freedom of speech no longer applies here.
If you're going to moderate postings perhaps you should start by making sure that things that are posted are in fact actual deals and not a figment of someone's imagination.

I haven't deleted any comments and I haven't been watching the thread all day so I've no idea what you posted but someone else must have deleted the comments not me. At the time of posting all parts of this deal were available, I don't know if since posting this morning any part of this has changed but if you let me or a mod know if it has expired and I'll update.

Chaing mai was amazing when we were there in 1999, chaing rai was too far off the tourist track for us back then, might be better now, also did a day trip into Burma back then - beautiful country, but back then the locals didn't have much to smile about.

This holiday would be rubbish. You'd need a holiday to get over it. From my experience it takes two weeks to adjust to the jet lag. Better idea would be just go to one of the islands and chill there for two weeks in a fancy resort. If you're going to travel like that you need to do it over at least a month or more.

Just to let everyone know from someone who has been there at this time of year that October and September are the worst times for the rain, especially September. Great deal but I would have to agree with the post above that 2 weeks would not really be ideal, 3-4 weeks is far better.
kiwiflash
11 Apr 161#34
I disagree that this would be a rubbish holiday, it depends on what type of traveller you are.
I just spent 2 weeks travelling around Sri Lanka and didn't stay in one place for more than a few days (even with kids in tow), I want to see stuff and get bored easily if I chill for too long (more than a day).
Am planning to head to Thailand around Oct/Nov and this trip sounds very similar to what I'm planning.
In saying that, if you do want to just chill for a couple of weeks then you can still take the cheap flights as they are the main deal here.
bojangles to kiwiflash

Overnight train - is that first class?
on a seperate note
Brother went to Thailand a good few years ago & took a bus with a bunch of backpackers.
Somewhere on the route, all their luggage got done over through a hidden trapdoor under the bus luggage compartment. One or two was stupid enough to lose all their money. Luckily my brother was aware about these type of things & had a steel PacSafe baggage net over his backpack.
mcbain to bojangles
11 Apr 161#37
I don't think they should be allowed to apply the term "first class" to their trains over there.... Skip the train and book a cheap flight with AirAsia instead... or if you're trying to save money, take a bus with a reputable company like "nakhon chai air" (yes air bit is confusing). Their buses are amazing, huge seats. Pretty sure your hotel could sort that out for you. Does mean getting to their terminal in north Bangkok though.

Unfortunately not alot of people have the ability to take at least a month off work in one go. 11 Apr 16#52
I know you're likely thicker than 4x2 but let me reiterate a couple of reasons that were in my original post that you would have picked up on if you had basic comprehension. First, this holiday (not deal) would be rubbish because jet lag takes 2 weeks to get over and it is only a 2 week break. Secondly, the itinerary would likely need a month or more to do realistically. Other reasons are that Thailand is a bit unpredictable with the weather, food poisoning or even transport easily postponing plans for a day or more and impacting the tight schedule.

Two wks to get over let lag?? Are you for real?? So all of the 4 million that visit the US every year, land, then take 2wks to adjust?? I flew to Sau Paulo 2yrs ago, then flew up to the Amazon the next day, then flew to Rio 4 days later, then onto Belo 4 days after that, and back to Rio 5 days later-was fantastic! This is an EXCELLENT trip! I presume you're over 60 and thinks Hoeseasons is an adventure!!

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. This holiday is meant for exploring and for someone to complain about jet lagged is absolutely ridiculous.

I really don't understand why, when someone has clearly gone to a lot of trouble to put a deal together and share it amongst us do people have to snipe? If you don't like the deal can't you just appreciate the effort someone has gone to and move on? There will be - or possibly have been - deals that the very people who are bitching would probably have liked that probably never made it to the site, as those such as rachelandgromit have probably become fed up and discouraged. The prognosis for this fine site is that eventually it could, in all probability end up being pointless and then defunct as those who really care about bringing deals to our attention say "F*ck it - I can't be arsed any more."
Can you just let go of the ego for a bit and just not respond if you don't like it?
I just want to say, for what it's worth, thank you so much rachelandgromit and those others who work hard bringing us amazing deals for the effort you have clearly put in to putting this together - and don't be discouraged by those miserable bell-ends who can't afford to compensate for the size of their manhoods (-or womanhoods for that matter) by buying high performance sports cars.
I suppose, if they could they wouldn't be looking at hotdealsuk anyway.
Cheers.

As this was likely aimed at me for my earlier comments I'll voice my opinion otherwise there is little point in the comments:
Basically, you don't understand this website.
Indeed, you post deals - for example an iPhone for £400. RRP may be £500 so therefore it's a deal however the debate about whether the product is good value is mostly the content of the discussion on EVERY deal.
