Someone told me a good tip is to book a night at the Hard Rock hotel. You get two days of Express passes included, which can be collected early morning on night of stay. Allows you to skip the lines, except Harry Potter rides, but does allow 1 hr early access to the Wizarding world before the place opens up. I'm going in July, got a room for £310 (inc quidco) for four, buying the express passes on their own would have cost about £500. (doesn't include entrance tickets, they are extra)
There is a cheaper hotel which gives the express passes, Royal Pacific, but is a longer walk to the park entrance. Would have been £40 cheaper than the Hard Rock which has better reviews.

Thomson always have cheap flights this time of year. I paid £259 inc luggage 2 years ago and they came down to £219 inc luggage.

Exchange rate at the moment is rubbish though. Makes the prices out there nothing like as attractive :disappointed:

Ellese, I've been lucky enough to go Orlando on a few different occasions and have always bought our tickets from Attraction Tickets Direct, always good prices usually have special offers going on too, and great service as well. Highly recommend them.

Yes, if you go well before or after the Easter school holidays, but next year Easter is a good bit later, our school is off for a fortnight from the 8th April, so April will be mega-expensive next year. March should be cheap.

Always around that price this time of year.. Great price even with luggage on top Its the rest of it that costs once your there, especially with the poor £ against the $ at the moment ;-)

lots of flyers had there holidays cancelled recently due to the americans changing the visa rules so just just bear that in mind. double check the new visa requirements!

Visa rules changed for America over 7 years ago!

Sorry, you must be talking about the new rules if you have been to Iran, Iraq, Syria or Sudan recently...
leechuter to sul
7 Apr 16 #49
You sure about that? The "Rules" changed in 2009 so would be strange if they only cancelled holidays last year, also if you don't get the Esta that you talk of, you will still be let into the country you just need to apply when you arrive, so wherever you find your information isn't a very realisable source

Cheers! We got over £300 cashback for a 3 week holiday last year, not to be sniffed at! We did the quick serve last year (Coronado Springs, brilliant place, but 3 weeks of counter service started to get a little tiring) and we've gone for the standard package this year (Saratoga Springs, directly opposite Disney Springs so loads of table-serve restaurants on the doorstep). Not entirely sure if we want to go again next year or not yet, but I'm sure we will!

The only problem with booking early is that they charge you £50 to make an amendment to the dates, even if it's just for a single day. Not the end of the world, but I'd rather not pay it, and there's always a chance I won't be able to find flights (refuse to pay more than £400) so I won't book until the flights are in the bag. Flying into Miami this year as we bagged the flights for £279 (summer school hols) as opposed to the £700+ they wanted for Orlando but that doesn't always happen! I've got a friend who wants to do Dosney dining in the summer tho, and couldn't remember if it ran through the summer holiday booking period too or not - October is perfect as we'll be able to find her flights from early Sept.

We got Memory Maker for this year, booking fairly early, and altho it wasn't advertised at all at the time when we booked, we got the $100 gift card on our booking confirmation. The gift cards are great - they tell you that they can only be spent in 'selected retail' but in reality you can use them absolutely everywhere. We used most of our $200 card the year previous at the pool bar!

Thanks again for the heads up, a lot of people will be waiting for the 21st April!!

hotyoda
6 Apr 16 1 #41
Starts 21st Apr and goes on to about October. For the first month or two you'll also get 200 disney dollars which then drops to $100 then it's just the free dining plan.

If you book now when it's released you can call them and change dates to fit in with flights later (they seem to expect this) and it doesn't effect the deal. This year as last, you'll also get free memory maker which is a real bonus.

Remember that it's quick dining with moderate resort hotels and full table service with deluxe hotels although you can upgrade from quick to full.

Finally, remember cashback! I got £140 on my family booking.

panddda
6 Apr 16 #39
Fantastic, I wondered when that would be released. Any idea how long it's on for? Our flight dates won't be released by then (roughly 11 months before) and I prefer to get the flights first.

Just back from Disneyland California for Easter fortnight - totally different to Florida, similar in size to Paris but 100000 times better. Cars Land is out of this world, loved every minute! If you get the chance, go!!

the price drop is due to fuel cost reduction and dreamliner already economic.

Disneyland is in California and is Euro Disney sized. Disney World is in Orlando and is massive. Went last year...loved it...signed up with the DIBB!

Queuing is not that bad...as Tom says fast passes help a lot. For Universal I'd recommend staying at a resort hotel as you get a free express pass and early access to the parks...we queued for 30 mins for the Harry Potter rides in mid August. Hardly queued at all for the rest of Universal.

By the way all...headsup...21st April Disney World Online release there free Disney Dining Plan for 2017 bookings. It's an absolute bargain. All your food free for your whole stay!

Tomofife
6 Apr 16 #30
Well yes, hence the express passes (Universal) or FastPass System (Disney). When we went in 2012, the queue for the HP ride was 3 hours plus. We skipped that ride on that visit.
smelladeal
6 Apr 16 #29
I`ve never been to Disneyland or any of the parks, though I hear it`s a real dream. But, queuing for an HOUR?? That`s an off-putting experience, SURELY? :smirk:

panddda to paul.jacobs
6 Apr 16 1 #16
There's not a great deal in it, and you can get water taxis but the Hard Rock is right on the doorstep, it's definitely worth doing, and you can pick rooms up for very little. The same is also the case of both Loews hotels, Portofino and Royal Pacific - I'd say they're both nicer than Hard Rock, we only stayed at HR as it turned out cheapest for our dates. Beware that you don't get Express pass with the Cabana Bay or the new Sapphire Falls (which will catch people out I reckon!). We stayed at HR for 10 days in Dec and the Express pass was worth its weight in gold. Next time we do Universal we'll probably stay in a cheaper I-drive hotel and go for one night to a Universal hotel just to get the passes.
Tomofife to paul.jacobs
6 Apr 16 #27
Maybe worth adding that the passes you get this way are unlimited whereas the ones bought on the gate I believe are one express pass per ride. Not worth doing if just a couple of people in room, but for a family of four (or five) in a room, its a no brainer if you want to skip the bulk of the queues. We went straight to the front of duelling dragons twice and must of passed about an hours of queue each time.

I stayed at the Avanti last year great hotel, but was getting crazy price quotes this time and I'm trying out the 7600 Rosen as a few friends have stayed and said it was great, I was a bit wary tho as it's next door to the big McDs and the back end of there car park were dealers selling outta a pimped out SUV

There is various places to book, this time I booked tickets via American attractions they seemed the best and there was a discount code with money saving expert believe the code was MSE6 but you can call them and they will just add the discount anyway, they are also real tickets not a voucher where you have to exchange for tickets there.
I always stay in the same place, The Avanti Resort or Rosen Inn International (7600) the Avanti I normally book direct over the phone as I get better rates for returning the Rosen inn I book via different places, Travel Republic, Expedia etc just spend some time looking around search international drive for good locations and I would say within walking distance of Sand Lake (the crossroad) is best
