This isn't the Stone Age as you know it. This is the Stone Age with irreverence and mayhem. This is Far Cry's Stone Age.
- Stalk enemy outposts and plan your attack using weapons and tools crafted from the bones of beasts you've killed.
- Master the element of fire to expand your tactical options, setting your weapon on fire or scaring predators at night.
- Land the killing blow on the prey you've hunted across the plains. But beware, its scent may attract predators willing to fight you for the prize.
- The rich setting of the Stone Age only multiplies the amount of deadly weapons, dangerous threats, and incredible stories that Far Cry is known for.

anyone played this? at first I was very interested in the setting, being a fan if Far Cry 3 and 4 but then the gun-free gameplay idea reminded me of those awful Shangri La stages in Far Cry 4,I absolutely hated them.

I am curious about the price drop of Primal. It hasn't been out that long and already dropped this far?

All Farcry games are like this. I bought the last three on release and decided to wait on this one. I said in another thread it would be £20 by mid April, not far off. I'll bite then.

As much as I love Far Cry the series is very formulaic.3 and 4 were practically identical so I would be very surprised if Primal doesn't also feature Shangri La style stages.
For fans of Far Cry you should give Mad Max a go. I'm working through it now and loving it. I picked it up new for sub £15 from a deal on here a few weeks back.

I've got it and have to say I'm surprised with how much I'm enjoying it - I liked 3 but got bored with 4 very fast due to it being practically the same game. But the setting is really good, you feel much more vulnerable walking around with a pointed stick and bow rather than assault rifles, so the upgrade system feels much more important.
The hand to hand combat is average (throwing spears is much better) but improves when you upgrade your clubs, plus you get to charge into battle on the back of a sabretooth tiger!

I agree on Mad Max. On PC it runs fantastic and I made it all the way to the end. Always a good sign.

Eurogamer did a thing on YouTube showing that all Far Cry games are linked either with recurring characters or locations named previously. The Primal map is very very similar to FC4 so could well even be the same location.
It took me 57hours to 100% FC4 but I must be near 70hrs on Mad max and I've only just completed the 3rd of 5 chapters. Minor niggles aside its wicked guy.
