Not sure why chapchap said that but this game can ONLY be played through Steam. These days it's very rare to find a retail copy of a game that doesn't require some kind of online DRM activation, and that will mean Steam unless it's from a publisher that has their own (EA/Origin, Ubisoft/UPlay, Blizzard/Battle.net, Rockstar/Social Club, etc.). So there will be a code printed somewhere in the retail case that you need to activate on Steam - the discs are just there to install the game from to save you downloading it.
So if a game is on that list, it will require activation on Steam even if you buy a disc copy.
Reviews are/were generally positive for the game itself (great concept, good graphics, good level design, etc.). The main problem is that it never really became very popular and, considering it's multiplayer only, that kind of cripples it, with not many people playing. But hey, if it's only £2.50 or goes F2P maybe that will change! I think I'll take a punt at this price.

To be honest with you, I have a thing for boxed PC games, so even if it does go F2P, I'll sadly pay £2.50 for it :stuck_out_tongue:
I always fancied this, even though hear it's a bit of a train wreck. if it does go F2P it may give some dlc to paid owners.

Sadly, the fact a game can be purchased on Steam doesn't mean it can always be redeemed on Steam when purchased else where.

If some one did a dump on the street in front of me and then said Oi Mister give me £2.50 for that, I'd still refuse.

Which is why I refuse to pay for Evolve, it is a lot less messy and stinky than a dump though.

I think their convoluted DLC program did a lot of harm too - greedy before the product had a chance to build popularity. it does lead credence to the F2P suggestion, relaunch, a bit of marketing, and make money on the hats(monsters)

I wasn't arguing. I was merely stating a fact. Do facts always make you angry? :man:

Hah people complain?? I just got my copy, sadly I got work though. Did anyone else receive the whole "Monster Expansion pack?" Is that just a normal thing with the game?

If you're ever unsure, there's this list on Wikipedia of games that require Steam -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_using_Steam_authentication
So if a game is on that list, it will require activation on Steam even if you buy a disc copy.
