Yep, as long as it is actual credit. Many £10 EE PAYG cards are £10 bundle "packs" that include minutes and texts, but no actual credit.

If the card is a bundle pack, simply text "STOP PACK" to 150 as soon as you put the card in the phone. Make sure the phone is set up fully first, as EE will apply the bundle pack within a few minutes of the SIM being activated. EE will then text to ask if you want to confirm, reply with "YES". This will stop the £10 credit from converting into a minutes/texts bundle pack.

Did you make sure data was off & text Stop Pack to 150 ?? If you do that then in theory the £10 should be usable....the pack activates on first use taking the £10

Got mine a couple of days ago from Debenhams. I can confirm that you cant use the existing £10 credit to unlock it so you will need to do another £10 top up. Customer services confirmed it would take 7-10 days for the unlock code to be sent via email.

The phone's EE setup app appears ready to accept T-mobile and Orange numbers but didn't recognize my Virgin number. However I still cut my standard sim down to size and gave it a try. it's working (2 hours so far) and it even installed a virgin app.

16 Apr 16 #76
No, that only applies if you are a Pay Monthly customer. PAYG customers can unlock the phone straight away, as long as they have £8.99 credit to purchase the unlock.

Found this on Amazon :

Question: Does the ee harrier from amazon support wi fi calling--or is that feature only available on harriers bought directly from EE?
Answer: The only Harriers are EE ones which now have the wifi calling with the latest android update
By Simon W. on 12 February 2016
It's the same phone regardless where you buy it from
By EE Direct on 13 February 2016
Yes. I have one Harrier bought through Amazon, another through EE. They both use EE WiFi Calling. They are both on Android 5.1.1

Yeah from experience, maybe I had a duff one though? I sent it back in the end because I fancied the bigger SU6
little_green
11 Apr 16 #67
I have both the su6 and p8 lite. Like yourself I'm a Huawei fan I had a p6 and ee kestrel and y300.
Su6 I totally agree is just far to big for practice use. I've also had a few issues with mines in regards to basic features and I'm less than happy. What annoys me more about the whole voda smart series is that they've basically gone for the bigger the better. The prime 6 5 inch should have the same specs as the su6 with screen size and res being only differences that way giving people an option over which they prefer. But instead if u want the smaller screen size u need to suffer with pretty crappy specs. Bad move if u ask me.
It dissapoints me Huawei are still considered a cheap crap Chinese brand. I think they're doing well in the UK market and rightly so

Brilliant price just to use and take advantage of the EE wifi calling facility around the planet.. :man:

11 Apr 16 #65
Hey yer I partially agree with you but for me it was just too big at 5.5" whereas the P8 Lite sits at 5" so much more comfortable to use and hold rather than a phablet stylr I suppose...I was coming from an iPhone 4s so even 5" I'm struggling with! I also prefer the Huawei OS and skin as it's quite like iOS  Camera has better specs and I also liked the fact it's unlocked so could pop my Virgin Sim straight in whereas SU6 is Vodafone bloated/locked. Potato potatto, horses for courses I suppose :stuck_out_tongue: Both great phones for under £100 though and better purchases than this I reckon :smirk:

I have a smart ultra 6 coming from having Samsung note 3 and have no regrets. Great screen, great battery life. Not sure about this EE Harrier but on paper looks almost as good but cheaper

11 Apr 16 1 #63
You speaking from experience? It's just that, the 'trustedreviews' review sings the battery's praises:

"We found that the EE Harrier lasted two days comfortably. We used the Harrier for a range of tasks, including calling, gaming, watching videos, listening to music, and tracking runs. With this normal usage, we didn’t even come close to running dry in a day."

Worse screen res. 2600mah battery. Just noticed its only a 2500mah battery on this compared to the 3000mah in the SU6. Granted the poorer screen might mean battery life is around the SU6 level.

Smart ultra 6 still king, and its been out nearly a year. Can't believe no one has managed to release a phone from a UK seller, not a dodgy gearbest spesh, in that time that can even match the specs for £100, let alone beat it.

Yes I bought a standard P&G EE Sim one, so not the upgrade option. Phone was £89.99 + £10 top up so was £99.99 all in. £5.25 received from Carphone Warehouse via Top Cashback and about to sell the EE Sim for a fiver on eBay (as using my existing Virgin Sim only in it) so yer, a cracking phone delivered for under £90! *However* just noticed price has gone back up on Carphone Warehouse site but no doubt will be back to where it was pretty soon

On paper its the only phone from a UK seller that seems to rival the smart ultra 6 in value for money stakes.

Not read the reviews but the screen is one of the best features of the SU6, how this compare? Wife needs a new phone to replace her 1020, need to bring her back to the dark side now MS misjudged the 950 prices.

What I find funny about these cheap phones, rightly so they are praised in reviews for the near stock Android, which is done to keep development costs down. Yet all expensive Android phones get slammed for doing the opposite. They actively waste money on stuff no one wants...When will they learn!!!

10 Apr 16 1 #47
its a good question. its ok for me, but its on the edge, I had a note 4 and that was to big. I think if this is important to you then the harrier might be a better bet, size wise. not easy is it.

fwiw, I looked at the willy fox, but thought the vsu6 was a better bet all round, think the harrier might be too.

the weakness of all these phones is the camera, when compared to the top end phones, but the on on the vsu6 if actually OK, not sure about the harrier.

its hard to really tell some of the true life performance until you actually use it. I tend not to trust reviews all that much anymore.

its hard to know what's best. good luck!

You are correct, the software is the same. Wifi calling is available on the Harrier and Harrier Mini, regardless of the shop you purchase it from.

Obviously for other manufacturers it will vary depending on where you purchase the phone.

10 Apr 16 #39
I know they say that (and it makes sense for other models, Samsung etc.) but I can't see that they'd go to the trouble of using a different ROM for third party sellers on their own phone would they? Only one way to find out I guess!

I Dont think it's practical at all. No way you can use it one handed. It's annoying that voda released the smart prime 6 but lowered the specs it's like just coz you want a smaller screen you have to suffer lower specs. Stupid.
Hopefully this year there will be a 5 inch budget model
nigelbutler
10 Apr 16 1 #35
Is the size really manageable though? i've seen it in the shop window and looks too big!

I think 5-5.2 is my limit.... need to use one handed for street navigation etc

Hopefully the next budget phones will be 5.2 inch this year.... then i'll bite!
chancooluk
10 Apr 16 1 #34
It's smaller than the Smart Ultra 6, but not by much:

Harrier: 147 x 74.5 x 9.3 mm (screen size 5.2")
SU6: 154 x 77 x 8.4 mm (screen size 5.5")
Wileyfox Swift: 141 x 71 x 9.4 mm (screen size 5.0")

I'd probably just get Moto G 3rd gen 2gb ram version £144 on amazon.... these cheaper devices like Harrier and SU6 all have issues of some sort
