I guess Dark Souls 1 needs no introduction by now. The PC version seems to have some issues, but apparently there's a patch to make it a bit less buggy.

Eleven hours later and still no key on this end. There's definitely no reason for a digital delivery to take as long as this, especially when they're comfortable taking payment instantly.
Sent them an email but since it's Sunday we're probably out of luck until tomorrow at least unless the code manages to turn up on its own today.
Still, on the bright side, this ought to free up some time for college work!

Thanks for confirming this. I ordered this last night so hoping to get the keys soon.
And the price on this game has gone up now: £19.99.

For those who already have this game, is that true the servers have been down for a week for online?
Hope that is just temporary.

The only problem I have with the PC version of this game is that it assumes you're using an Xbox controller even if you're not - try playing it with a keyboard and mouse and the first thing it will tell you do is press 'A' to pillage a corpse - and it's an A in a green circle, like on an Xbox controller, and it does not correspond to A on your keyboard because that's strafe left. So that kind of breaks the in-game tutorial but a) it's not that hard to figure out what the controls are for yourself and b) these games are much better played a controller anyway, so just take the hint.
Beyond that, yes, the PC port could have been better - it's capped to 30fps and the internal rendering resolution is 1024x720, and that doesn't increase when you increase the resolution in settings, it still renders at that resolution and then just upscales to whatever you've set it to. But the DSFix patch does fix that - set it to 1920x1080 and it will render and output at that resolution, which makes all the difference. Increase the framerate if you want, but as other people have noted the framerate is tied to the physics in this game engine so it can cause issues with jumping, etc.
Bottom line is, I don't know what all the complaints are about - it's a real glass half full/empty situation. Yes, they could have taken the opportunity to make the PC version a huge technical improvement over the console versions, yet they just didn't bother. But it hasn't been made worse than the console versions and that still leaves you with a great game.

The PC version is unplayable even with the patches, and even with a gamepad.

Complete BS, you obviously haven't played it. I've put in many hours into both 360 and PC versions and can confirm the PC version plays brilliantly. Post GFWL I'd say online is even better than ever.

Man, I guess I must been passed out on the floor dreaming for the 51 hours Steam says I played of it.

Completely untrue on both counts.

Good price, game is fine with the patch and improved frame rate. If anyone is wondering about whether you seem to be jumping shorter distances with the higher framerate, it's true. You need to drop the framerate back to 30fps to do longer jumps (especially for the Iaito).

51 hours? Is that all you 'casul'?! :P
Would agree, the PC version is now probably the superior version and I say that owning both the PS3 and PC versions.
This is a great deal and would recommend it to anyone yet to play this ground breaking game. Heat from me.

Played this on pc with only dsfix installed, and a ps3 controller, i'd almost completed the game, literally no problems whatsoever, not sure what other people's issues' were?

Oh I see, that makes sense.
My point, though, was that a clean vanilla install of DS from steam will run at a locked 30fps, this has not been updated to include the option from dsfix (source: I've just reinstalled the game).

I think what he means is DSFix allows 60 frames. But the game mechanics are still running at 30.

I thought they'd integrated that patch into the main game? I've been playing it on Steam the last week or so (without installing anything besides the main game file) and 18 hours in I haven't had a single issue, consistent 60 fps with no crashes or glitches of any kind.

The game runs at 30fps, not 60. Like skyrim, the engine's physics are tied to the game's native 30fps.

Many thanks for this. Completed the game on PS3 before but have been wanting to jump back into the fire again recently. Will try and finish DS3 first mind.

The patch is called DSfix and is very easy to install (see YouTube tutorials)...however even with the patch the game is still buggy and doesn't run smooth compared to DS2 or DS3.
