Secret menu trick: Hold down Shift, 7, and On together, press 9, press Shift until you get to the text beginning with "LY720X VerG", then press AC. You'll now be given the hex value for your current contrast level and the ability to change it with the left / right buttons. Press AC again to now go into the buttons test - press all the buttons apart from On in order. That was fun! /s
^^ is the way you can test these for faults, etc. It's also a fun "game" if you've got nothing else to do (like me in lessons a few years ago :-)) to race someone else through the button test.

I don't get why the kids can't use their phones like us adults do when we are working....

all calculators ought to be solar by law! such low power requirements the solar cell works well for the typical time used, ..mad not to, simple & sensible environmental change.

Quick tip for anybody sitting exams you have to solve equations fairly complicated too the fx-991es plus is great! If you learn how to use it the solve functions will solve for unknowns, I spent time reading the manual and I wish I'd have known how to use it in high school. Though it's more expensive mind!

That calculator is not allowed in UK exams as far as I know due to it being classed as programmable. Shame really, I bought it for university only to have to downgrade to the FX-85GTPLUS :disappointed:. That being said though, both get the job done long as you know your stuff :P

It is allowed, I used it two years ago for my A-levels after my teacher checked with Edexcel. You can have graphing calculators or anything you want for GCSE and A-level as long as it can't do symbolic integration and differentiation or something along those lines.
