Hopefully other people are familiar with this product. Found in the Leigh Asda, but appears to be a national clearout of it. This is great coffee essence, you can make cups of coffee out of it by adding it to warm milk and use it in baking to.

Someone gave me a cup of this as a joke as I hate coffee and I drank it quite happily thinking it was tea cause it looked like tea and I just had a sweet biscuit. I like it, it's nice!

A better questiom might be 'Does it still have coffee in it'?
It's certainly no coffee extract - and yet cakemakers swear by it for coffee cakes.

Wow, that's a blast from the past, didn't realise it was still made. My Nan always used this & I always wondered why my Mum wouldn't have a coffee when we visited.......she made me a cup when I was older & then I knew why.......

Hah i like how it went from the Sikh soldier serving the coffee, to sitting down and having a coffee himself. Makes me laugh. And they removed the sword hah.
You could argue it portrays a modern version of society now as British rule in India has long gone, they need to lose the uniforms though BUT definitely wear clothes, obviously! I'm thinking some white vans for the Brit guy and Mr PunJab can have some bling bling maybe a Jayzee necklace.
Also Chicory is a source of the fibre Inulin, probably not enough to have any significant effect on your health but it's there all the same.

Camp coffee was a bit of a Glaswegian institution for my mum's generation. Didn't realise it was still around! I have a "Camp Coffee" fridge magnet I've had on my fridges for 25+ years (me and my love of kitsch)
I'd be curious to try it, but coffee essence sounds like my idea of hell.

Also used for BBQ recipes... (e.g. for a bbq sauce to apply to ribs) ...you likely will want to open up a bag of expletives now
Well what is a frappucino !? ice chilled milky coffee right? ..so what's the big deal

No i'm not him, but I could likely put in a good word for you! :man:
The point of camp coffee was minimal faff on the move, still is really, it never seems to go off unlike a tin of stale instant, nor does it need molly-coddling like a packet of opened ground coffee.
no need for a portable aero-press.

It's very good as a cold coffee milkshake type thing, great to have around.
With seriously cold milk & a sugar sweetener it is a delicious alternative to hot coffee on a hot day.
Minimal prep time, I prefer to have this kicking around compared to instant coffee which tends to make me violent (for some strange reason) ..love real coffee, love camp coffee.

Head and shoulders (and, no, I do not mean the shampoo) above Costa and Lavazza filter coffee which tastes like what I'd imagine recycled sewage would taste like.

It is absolutely minging, the only way to kill the chicory taste is to add a pinch of salt to a cup, but there are those who still like it, and it does go into cakes, so that is probably why it still sells.

I know it was big in the 70s and 80s when the price of coffee went up due to bad harvests in Brazil, so people used Camp Coffee as an alternative. Good for coffee and walnut cake to
