That would be outrageous.

McD's coffee is as good a coffee as you'll get and most certainly at the price they charge. Last time I was in McD's they also specialised in burgers, not coffee.

Dude I've tried them all, their isn't many coffee establishments and chains I haven't tried out over the many years I've been around. You need to digest what I said and not twist it. For the money McD coffee is the best in terms of quality and price. Yes I can go and pay double in Starbucks but Starbucks don't make burgers, they specialise in coffee. I rarely leave a cup of coffee behind but I left a cup behind last year in BK. I wasn't looking a burger, all I wanted was a coffee to see me through my night shift and man was I deeply disappointed. Now about their burgers. I won't argue they're not better or worse than McD's because I simply do not know. I rarely eat crap like burgers whether BK McD or wherever. You may be correct about BK burgers, but their coffee sucks.

You should change your username to The Walking Cliché. I might get into the fact that the human brain allows for deeper understanding and empathy and so is different to that of lions but I'm not always so sure.

Animals out in the wild is a really quite different issue to humans making the choice to breed animals for food. To put them in confined spaces to exploit and abuse. To keep cows constantly pregnant (until they fall over and have to be carted away on a forklift truck, of course) but rob them of their calves. To stick male chicks in blenders or to break their necks or suffocate them simply because they can't supply chest beating humans with the all important egg.

Agreed mcd cofee is best value for money. As for which burgers are best its all about place you go to! I visited numerous McD's and BK's and I can tell you for a fact difference can be drastic from one takeaway to another. I used to know which Mcd I am stopping in and which avoiding as burgers there were awful! There was one two Mcd's in one town, one made excellent burgers and chips the other one was complete disaster (burgers burned always, chips like out of freezes) and they were only 1 mile away from each other! So if you think BK burgers are not tasty maybe you need to try another BK place;)

That pretty much sums up your mentality, that does. Pitiful.

I would respond to your other comments but I feel that a six year old would be far more engaging. There are plenty of places you can find information on why we don't need to eat animals and of the health risks that eating them bring.

To the poster talking about the farm, obviously I don't know the exact detail of that farm. I have been on plenty of farms where that also doesn't happen. But I have also visited factories where it does.

1 Apr 16 1 #91
Animals are made for the consumption of animals. Well, animals who eat animals. You can't say we shouldn't be eating meat as that's exactly what are teeth are shaped for.
Then again, does anybody know what a human's 'natural' diet is meant to consist of? Not eggs, milk and bread that's for sure. All our food is processed these days, in one form or another.
While the human race is obviously the superior species on this planet, this has unfortunately led to us developing an incorrect sense of entitlement, and so we see fit to do as we please with complete disregard for the welfare of anything but ourselves.
But things will balance out somewhere down the line, we can't carry on like this for too much longer.
In the meantime: I'm off to grab a slab of hot salt and fat in a stale bun, because my body craves it in the same way it would crave crack...
Seriously though. I love burgers.

jayjayuk1234
1 Apr 16 1 #100
Just because humans don't fully understand what some body parts are for, doesn't mean we no longer need them.

The appendix has been found to be a 'safe house for good bacteria', and the coccyx serves as an attachment site for tendons, ligaments, and muscles. It also functions as an insertion point of some of the muscles of the pelvic floor.

As I and others have said, the evolutionary design of our teeth makes us omnivores. It was part of our evolutionary advantage that allowed us to eat meat. This source of energy allowed increased brain development and it's ensuing social advantages including technical and empathetic understanding that has allowed you to sit at a computer and troll alternative ideas. I kindly suggest that whilst one hand is typing Id keep the other on the table as you seem inexperienced in handling meat.

Don't be silly, of course dairy and eggs involves killing plants and animals. We need to make room for the farm, we need to feed the animals and male chicks and dairy calves are gotten rid of sooner rather than later. Although progress in sexing sperm and eggs will probably reduce this.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. The original comment from cobra state that mcds coffee was the best you could get. I just pointed out that there are much better coffees out there and that I have had a better cup of coffee from a petrol station vending machine.

Also, just because it's your opinion, it doesn't make something a "fact"

Nobody's saying you should eat 1 of these a day.
Are you suggesting that eating one of these every few weeks will give you a heart attack?
IMO, heart attacks are caused more by a complete lifestyles choice, not by 1 burger.

You seem to be confused about your argument.
If you're saying that some of the practices in the food industry are barbaric, You'd be correct. But people can eat meat, and should eat meat. There are higher welfare options (free range, organic etc).
You seem to be saying that people aren't designed to eat meat. You've given no evidence to support this. All you've done is be condescending towards the people commenting in the thread.
The fact that you show a person no respect because they choose to eat meat says volumes more about you than it does about them.

Tried to do the BOGOF for £1.29 last week, still got charged £2.50 or something like that. When asked, was told that it "works out cheaper" to buy one at normal, non-promo price, as £1.29 is an offer price and it won't work with the app offer... At that point I gave up. Basically it's either someone in my BK is a twit, or if you want a BOGOF you'll have to pay more than £1.29. Oh yes and jeeez they're tiny... Not sure if just when on offer though, don't go there enough to notice lol.

lol at the vegetarian on their soapbox in a meat deal thread . Its like a member of greenpeace getting on one in a deal for a big gas guzzling car . falls completely on deaf ears . what did this person actually expect to achieve ?

As it happens as a meat eater I respect vegetarian and vegan dietary choices . But i also feel there is some hipocracy .

Both vegetarian and meat food production methods are responsible for causing harm in the world . as meat eaters we should all be aware of the exploitive conditions some animals are kept in .But then look at the poverty inflicted on other humans because people in poorer parts of the world are encouraged to grow cash crops like soy .

I do not know any meat eaters who are unaware of the harms done by the meat industry . I personally try best to source as much meat as I can from a local butcher who buys from local farms who do not engage in cruel treatment of animals . Unfortunately though I have met far too many vegetarians who think just because there is no meat on their plate there have been no animals or humans suffering to give them that meal .

It would help if the veggies didn't display such naivety - are they really so uneducated not to realise that by eating eggs and dairy products they are causing the deaths of many animals (bullocks and cocks). Even worse, they are killed when only days old, so haven't even had a life.

Good find op, thanks.

My ex-boss kept saying he was a veggie, his only meat eating being a full english on Sundays. I bet many veggies are the same, secretly, or even non-secretly, eating meat when no one's around. I'd also wager that those who shout loudest that burgers make people fat are great porkers themselves.

Of course there's cruelty when you kill an animal, and we have to minimise that, and give animals a good life while alive. But I hope our way of killing is less cruel than most other animals method of killing.

Anyhow, talking of hypocrisy, I bet Prince Charles has criticised the food pleasures of the great unwashed - here's an interesting snippet

Duchy Originals Cornish Pasty carries more calories, fat and salt on a gram for gram basis than a Big Mac, which is the signature product of the McDonald's chain.
The pasty carries 264 calories per 100g, which is considerably more than the 229 per 100g of the Big Mac.
Similarly, the fat in the Cornish pasty, which is made from beef, potato, swede, onion and pastry, is put at 13.6g per 100g, which is also higher than the 11.12g in the Big Mac.
The same pattern is seen with saturated fat at 5.5g in the pasty versus 4.17g in the Big Mac.
The salt level in the pasty is considerably higher at 1.25g versus 0.93g.

If we're going to talk about the environmental impact of people's dietary choices, there's a lot to discuss. Wholesale land clearance for oil palms and crops, massive water consumption and land destruction for cotton and rice, fertiliser runoff into water sources, etc etc. Sad fact is nearly everything we do, eat, and wear is destroying the planet in some way. So unless you're sitting naked growing your own plants completely organically, there's no high horse to be sat on here I'm afraid. In fact you can look up what the domestication of horses has done to them as well.

In the meantime, I think we should be focusing our energies on reducing the impact of whatever choices we make - vegetarian or omnivorous - rather than sitting in our glass houses and throwing stones. :disappointed:

And finally, this is a good deal. Heated.

Yet France still had cases however it's a bit more complicated than British farmers just being stupid. There were several countries who experienced the disease including Japan and the US. In Europe, meat and bone meal was a common practice because soybeans, which were a common thing to feed to improve the amino acid profiles of the diets, were too expensive. Europe doesn't have the best soil and climate for soy so they used a cheaper alternative to supplement their diets.

Just because they're herbivores, doesn't mean they can't handle the stuff found in meat and bone meal. They can't really digest actual meat of course, MBM has been rendered down to the basic amino acids, fats, minerals etc which they can deal with. Look at cats who are obligate carnivores, i.e. they need meat to live, but they can still digest carbohydrates and grasses. You might not trust British farmers as a result but consider that this practice and BSE occurred in many countries all over the world. The practice had been done for decades before the outbreak without a known issue.
someguy003
3 Apr 16 #209
I think the question I asked was "What sort of bonehead uses meat and bone meal as a dietary/mineral supplement?" If "farmers" do this, we may as well let 4 year olds run farming. I would not make such idiotic errors. Thankfully, I stopped eating beef around 20 years ago. I only eat halal chicken, NZ halal lamb and fish and nothing from british idiot cattle farmers.
