I was looking for a cordless drill to help me with infrequent attempts to do some DIY (I usually get my builder brother-in-law or father-in-law to do DIY jobs...). Anyway, having checked various online retailers for a good value drill, I came across this Black + Decker drill at Amazon. Good drill for occasional DIY tasks, good reviews, and a very good price. Lowest price ever according to CamelCamelCamel.

Not really more a screwdriver n light wall jobs, i bought one about 6 months ago at £22 on here. does light work ok, but go for the 18v hammer if you want to decent masonry work, i have both by the way, other than that, good for price!

Voted hot from me, thanks OP. Bought for my parents who have this but lost the AC adapter...a non B&D one wouldn't work and this was cheaper than buying a new B&D AC adapter!

Avoid NiCad batteries. When they get left in the garage for months between DIY jobs they like to lose a few volts. One or two of the NiCad battery cells reverse charge when they go flat. Unless you split the battery pack you cant recover the useless cells. Not worth the trouble. If its just for jobs around the house get a mains powered drill. They're not expensive.

Bought this last time it was posted and it's an ok little drill for lightweight DIY jobs...I had a specific purpose I was buying it for (just wanted to drill a few extra holes in a pine shelving rack) and although it was ideal for what I wanted do not expect too much...it's not going to cope with heavy duty tasks but for lightweight little jobs around the house it's fine.

hmm tempted to buy to fix my garden fence. I'm rubbish at DIY, was just hammering nails into it and they never stay in! probably just made it worse!

I have similar machine. Both batteries died. Used total of 10 times over last 2 years. Don't bother

I have owned this drill for around 3 years and it comes out for occasional DIY maybe once every couple of months or so. Always has plenty of charge left for me to complete my jobs before charging again and putting back into a cold garage for use next time. To be fair, I think this is a really good drill for the money. I've had cheap battery drills before and this has far surpassed them in terms of torque and battery life. My dad also had one and flogged it's guts for years before it died on him.
