Thats quite, erm harsh. Nintendo are good at marketing and so on, just not so sure they are that sly, slick and so clever. You could say the same about virtually any Technology with several generations of hardware. Samsung and Sony keep improving their TV models with another one in the range every year. How many Ipads or Iphones have Apple produced now? Nissan have recently produced their 3rd generation Leaf (electric car), with a 4th on the way soon. Could it not be simply that technology evolves and improves quite quickly?

Why do they still make this model when the New 3DS came out last year?

I doubt they do, it's probably just old stock they want shot of. I had an old style 3DS XL and would never go back to it. The 3D was so unstable I could only comfortably use it in 2D mode. I got a new 3DS and it's much better though I wish I had paid a bit more for the New 3DS XL as the screen is a bit too small, wish they would make something like a 3DS TV (I know such a thing would lose the 3D effect), I'm not a fan of tiny screens but the 3DS has too many good games to ignore it altogether....

And as always with Nintendo and few of us learn from the past, you only have to look from the GBA onwards, it takes 2 or 3 revisions for them to perfect the hardware, using the consumers as monetary bait.

Far from being harsh, I have owned Nintendo products for a good number of years, we are talking slight revision alterations in the consoles (albeit a removal of gamecube compatibility and then online with the Wii) we are talking major changes to their handhelds. I owned the original GBA, DS and 3DS all are absolute cack with regard their screens compared to their revisions.
