after being on phone for 30 mins. was offered 4 GB data plus unlimited mins txt from £14, then £12 and eventually £9 repeatedly insisting on pac code.

12 month contract, with tethering

though, I did have two contracts to cancel at the time but only this one got £9 while the other I settled at £12.

Update 16/3/16 - tried to cancel my £12 contract and chance getting the £9 for my other contract. The lady initially said fine but minutes later came back saying system won't allow as its expired. Hard to accept whether she's telling the truth. Guess its time to expire this deal.

No deals for me despite many years as a customer, offered unlimited everything for £20, instead of the regular £30, but I moved to BT 20g unlimited calls & texts for £16 p/mth.....they couldn't/wouldn't match that so I'm off.

Folks for anyone who is being forced to move tariffs by three then the best option for most is to call them from your mobile 333 and select the options for wanting to leave three and you will 99% of time get through to the actual retention team - when they ask you 'how can i help you'? advise you are looking to leave as Three do not seem to be offering competative tariffs - use the example of your friend/family can get you a £15 deal with EE (30 day rolling) with 25gb 500 mins and ult text and then say 'what is the process for requesting your PAC code'?

They will at this point try to offer you off the shelf products for which you can say and use the following lines -

"I can walk in to Three shop and get this why would i need to call you then?"

"I can get better rates by using a cash back site that will clearly work out cheaper than what you are offering me"

"Where is your company's loyalties in retaining customers - when you are forcing us to move contracts that I have been happy with for years and as a loyal customer"

Ask for the PAC code again (even if they give it to you - you are not obliged to use it - it is only valid for 30 days - but bear in mind the letter that you had to the plan change)

Stick to your guns about the actual usage you have on an average month - as others have mentioned they will try to flog you the plan of your most used product item data/min/txts - so if you use more data than min/txts then insist you get something similar or the allowance offered is similar to your usage.

For me I had the One Plan £15 - they tried to flog me the 12gb a month plan with 12gb HotSpot and 600 mins and ult txt for £17 - finally got them to settle for ult data/mins/txts 12gb HotSpot for £20.

Good luck folks and don't cave in to them

I was offered this last week for £8/month and took it.

I was told all 03 and 08 numbers are now included in the Minutes, plus you can use your Minutes in most of Europe.

Need to book a holiday to use it in Europe now...

Just for info / comparison really.
4GB data, AYCE mins & texts, 12 month contract for £12 was the best I could get. Literally just off the phone.
A couple of weeks ago I got 1GB data, 600 mins, AYCE texts 1 month rolling contract for £8 for my son's contract.
Good luck to anybody trying.

Did you take the 8GB? Anyone done better than £16? In the same boat atm as I've been chucked off my £14 one plan and just been informed my wifes £6.90 300min? plan has expired! We've been with three for 7+ years, though they're showing their loyalty is for my money.

Rang yesterday to see if they could improve on the £14 4 gig with unlimited calls and texts.

Asked if they could possibly lower if to £12 (didn't try for the £9 deal with a few people reporting no success recently). Quoted the ID mobile £10 simo tariff with 4 gig (as mentioned by a previous poster) and said he would need to speak to his manager (which never happened the first time I called last month). Put on hold for a couple of minutes and they agreed to honour the £12 deal on a new 12 month contract.

Currently on the £12.90 1 month sim only deal and I only use between 1-2 gigs on an average month and around 150 mins, so I'm more than happy with the new deal. I'll just buy a 4 gig add on for when I'm in a feel at home destination to be safe

Guys. Does any new deal you negotiate start immediately or from the expiry date of your current deal? My one plan is due to expire on 10/04 so really want to run it up near to that, but if a new deal can commence from that date then I'll call to see what I can get.

I have been with Three for nearly 10 years.
My most recent deal was Ultimate Internet Sim 600 12 month. AYCE data, 600 mins, 5000 texts, 2000 3-3 mins for £15.90. I was perfectly happy with this, but they wrote and offered to move me to a similar one for £25 reduced to £22.
I usually use less than 4GB per month, sometimes slightly over.
Best I could get on the phone was the OP deal for £14, so I tried webchat and got it down to £12, but no lower.
I decided to accept rather than ask for PAC and then risk not getting a better offer when trying again.
I think there is more to these offers than we think. Maybe they offer the better deals to those who frequently overspend with picture messages, international calls, calls from non feel at home countries etc.
I hardly ever go over my standard bill, so maybe they don't like customers like me and won't try hard to keep us!
Upshot is most months I'll pay £12 instead of £15.90, but I can top up another 4GB for £5 when necessary and only pay £1.10 more than before.
Thanks to all the contributors to this thread and good luck to all those yet to get sorted.

I was paying £15 one plan...gave three a call couple of times first they offered AYCE t&t 8gb- £18, second time I called I haggled got put to retention they offered me 1month rolling AYCE 12gb tethering £20 so I settled with this, when this tariff started I could only see 4gb of tethering so I contacted through web chat the guy said he'll sort it within 48hrs which he kindly did, so back to original 12gb tethering.I've also been with three for 10 yrs.I'm keeping my eyes open for better deals since I'm on 1 month rolling.

I'm currently on 200 mins and 2gb of data for £11, just rang them up and quoted Talkmobiles 1000 mins 2gb data for £7.50 to start things off.

The best they could do was offer me OPs deal for 12 quid, but considering my aim was to decrease my bill I turned them down! I'm hoping for a call back at some point before I try again...

After securing this deal last week, I've got my confirmation letter yesterday. The price and the allowances are fine on the letter, however, it says I'm on 12 months ROLLING contract.

I thought I'll be on 12 months initial contact and then it will continue on a rolling 1 months basis until either party cancels it.

But 12 months rolling suggests that after the initial 12 months, the contract will be renewed again for further 12 months (unless I cancel at that point of course). So in effect you are always in a 12 months contract period.

Has anybody else got that in their confirmation letter?

I got through to the first cancellation team, who could only offer me 4gb, UL texts and calls for £14. Another "deal" was AYCE data, texts and 200 minutes with 12gb of hotspot for £20 (which was no better than the offer I got on my letter).

After requesting the PAC he then put me through to retentions and he was ready to give me my pac code straight away, but I had to mention about why I was ringing and just wondering what retention deals they have. He finally offered me 4gb, UL texts and calls for £12. I tried pushing him on £9, but he wouldn't budge, so for the sake of £3 (a pint) per month, I'm happy with that. Especially as i've got my tethering back (my current contract didn't allow it)

Wow.... so frustrated and angry am close to tears! I've phoned 3 3 times now and have just requested my PAC code, am pretty disgusted by it all. I was on the SIM100 with AYCE data add-on, paying £13pm. First offer was £11pm for 1GB of data and 600 minutes. I then got £12pm for 12 mth contract for 4gb and u/l mins & texts. Just been on phone saying about ID network £10pm 4gb data and mentioning this website and thread. He was definitely cancellations department (I went the mobile 333 route), wouldn't budge (he actually kept arguing that this site is a 3rd party seller?! Seriously?!!?!?). At point of asking for PAC code, he then actually offered a monthly rolling contract of 4gb at £19....(!) I'm now going to join giffgaff I think. More money, but a better reputation, and have spent too much of my life talking to Three....

I accepted the 4gb deal and unlimited texts and minutes on 2 accounts last week for £12 but since reading this thread i have just phoned them up.
I was put through to cancel my account as i wouldn't even let the guy speak as he was just spouting the usual rehearsed lines.

He put me through so i didn't have to listen to all that usual dribble ,i would suggest you are firm with them to go through to cancellations as it saves a lot of time believe me.
Any way after speaking to cancellations they have changed both of my accounts to the £9 deals without me having to say that much.

Fully agree, and it has already back fired, prior to Three terminating my One Plan I had two plans £15 & £9 and they tried to increase my £15 to £30. After a couple of phones calls I managed to get the £9 deal on both my contracts, so I was paying £24 a month now I'm paying £18. I have unlimited minutes & txt's on both which I hadn't before and the £9 contract only had 500Mb of data now 4Gb, yes I've lost all I can eat data but didn't realise until speaking to Three I was constantly using just below the 4Gb limit, if I need more its another £5 Haddon.

I agree, pls dont retire the deal as this thread is where alot of people get info on the antics of Three UK.

What Three uk doesnt realise is that this new measures and antics to make more money from loyal customers will eventually backfire on them, as the other networks now know that Three customers are very very unhappy with Three at the moment and they will soon come out with deals to mop up all the thousands of disgruntled Three customers who thought loyalty to Three was worth it, but clearly not anymore.

No! I called them up yesterday, spoke for about half an hour, the main guy wouldn't do it and insisted on £14 so after a lot of talking he transferred me to the cancellation line. The new guy offered it at £9 almost straight away, despite me saying I don't want the deal for more than £11. Upgraded all three contracts in my household to this deal; unbelievable with 4GB data (including tethering and international usage at no extra cost), unlimited minutes and unlimited texts. Well worth the half an hour, especially as I was paying £8 for a fraction of what this contract offers.

Not sure how but after 3 calls and 2 hours, got ........
All you can eat data including 12gb tethering
600 minutes
Unlimited texts
30 day contract
For £17 per month ( includes £10 per month recurring discount)

Not as good as my old £15 one plan but I'm still happy as I only use about 200 minutes a month, mainly use the tethering and ayce data (about 25 GB a month usage).

PS I had changed to
8gb data
Unlimited calls and texts
30 contract
For £16 per month
Only a few days ago, but realised this would not be enough data. That's why I called the again today.

For those interested they also offered me
Unlimited everything
12 month contract ( no good for me)
For £20 per month

This all makes me wonder if the £30 one plan transfer was to fool a few people into taking it, then three decide to a week later change tactics and rather than lose customers who are willing to leave offer them better deals to stay. Just a thought?!?

I've been calling 333 from my mobile and then selecting the options to leave 3.

Ah yes, I had all that too (I called twice in all). The second lady was insistent that she was in the retentions department, and I decided to call her bluff and insisted on wanting to cancel, so go for it and transfer me to someone else and I will chat to them to cancel. As if by magic (!!!) she eventually transferred me to the retentions department who were more reasonable in terms of negotiation.

I would say that they try and offer deals based upon usage, since they must have certain targets for sales of certain tariffs and also they don't want to transfer you to 'rententions' as it counts against their targets. Hence all the b0ll0cks I had to endure about being put on hold, special discount authorisation etc.

You need to be firm but polite and have some rebuttals (or truths!) prepared, like I did. If they say you don't use xyz just say you have a new phone and will be using the network more (changing needs etc), and that your old phone was rubbish (which was the truth in my case as I had bought a new phone outright and wanted to use more calls and internet!).

Don't accept the first offer - dependent on who picks up they will either insist that the price is fixed or offer some, but not a lot of discount off. I have had prices ranging from £21 (website price) to the deal price on this thread.

And to whoever said about web chat - I have found they won't discount anything and will simply quote prices from the website.

Decided to bite the bullet and call them

Called using 333 and went through the options to cancel my contract.

First (and only) guy explained why they are changing prices etc and I said was unhappy with the price rise. Offered some deals, best being the 4GB, unlimites calls/texts for £14 for 12 months. Mentioned that my friend had got the offer the OP posted. He says that he deal has never existed. Mentioned he only got it from the retentions department and he replied that I was speaking to retentions depatment! I very very sceptical at this point, as I had not been put on hold once.

Guy continues to explain the difference between 3 and the other operators but point blank refuses to budge on price. Said I would have to leave 3 then and he went through all the info regarding cancelling my account and said I would receive my PAC.

I thought that there was no way that I was talking to retentions, and sure enough, my PAC came through!

The whole process took less than 20 minutes. Was seriously expecting it to be much longer.

Which number have you guys been calling? 333 or the 0800 number on the letter?

Might give it a couple of days then call back and try again

Same thing happened to me the first time I called. I called back in a week and got the same response. Only got crap deals. Called back close to my cut off date and was passed through to the real retentions department where they at least offered me something cheaper. Pushed hard and managed to get 8gb data, unlimited calls for £16 on a 30 day contract.

Phoned them up three times, I have my PAC code and was wanting the unlimited everything for £20 a month. They refused to give it to me.

That's only for a second contract (saw your post and gave them a ring, got told for me it'd be £17/month but managed to rehaggle UL,UL, 4GB to £12/month). I just moved broadband to uno (from plusnet) to avoid all this haggling at the end of the contract - at least it's another year before I start all this again.

They also have 12GB 200mins 12 months for £15pm
That seems pretty good value if you don't need the minutes.
Its basically the same as my old £12.90 plan but with AYCE reduced to 12GB (which for me is plenty) and only £2pm more which isn't too bad considering.
Graham74
17 Mar 16 #186
I got the letter yesterday and phoned them up.

I was on £9.90/month 200 mins, 5000texts, unlimited data, free three to three

They offered unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 4GB for £14/month with a 12 month contract. I accepted this but since had a look at this thread and tried my luck trying to get the more data and less minutes for £14 or less. I had no luck even though I mentioned the fact my wife is also on Three. The best I got offered was 12GB, 200mins, unlimited texts, free three to three for £17/month

I did learn a couple of things though:

1. The deals offered are based on the person's previous usage: ie they know I'll never use a lot of minutes - so they offer me a large amount being pretty sure it wont get used. They know I will probably use a lot of data so they don't offer me much. I guess people's luck will vary with what's (eventually) offered.

2. The free three to three minutes is STILL AVAILABLE - you can ask to get that added and they'll probably do so.

I left it with, "I'll look into other options from EE, 02 etc" Hopefully they'll call back with something.

Gave this one another go tonight and managed to get to the 4GB / unlimited calls/texts deal for 12 months at £9. Result!
Have some heat OP.

Had to go through the whole spiel again with the guy on the phone saying to me how loyal (and mugged off?!) I have been etc - I was previously not on the one plan, but out of contract for a long time on a sim plan; it took lots of chat and cutting through the BS to reach retentions.

Expect to be placed on hold umpteen times by the guys in CS whilst they 'speak to the manager' - and then more listening to Bruce Springsteen and A-ha on loop before they profer the holy grail. By the end you will be able to sing the lyrics to these artistes in your sleep...

Always insist you are leaving until you reach the retentions department. Have a chat with them, and if anyone asks where you saw the deal, say your "friend" told you about it. It certainly wasn't a "here's your deal now p1ss off" type conversation with retentions, but it was certainly shorter and less painful than the previous ones with CS.

But it does exist, despite the insistence by the previous lady in CS that I had pretty much seen a unicorn, so don't be put off.

Happy hunting.

Some people are never happy, even though they end up paying less than they were.
Every carriers prices have risen, and it just seems like everyone is moaning about not getting it dirt cheap. So what if a few people are saving a couple of quid each month compared to you.

I've been given an £11 discount off of one of their £27 tariffs, so I'm not going to take the mick and try and get them to lower it again.

I was paying £15 a month and ideally did not want to pay anymore, but for the sake of a quid and I get more than what I need.

Stop stressing people.

You will, i got mine yesterday, so rest assured that you will as this is a drive by 3 to mostly end AYCE "unlimited tethering" or get us to pay much more for it, so i wld advice you to start looking now if you do not want to pay the new £27 (ie £30 minus their so called "exclusive £3 monthly discount" tariff they are putting us all on.

If you want to predict when you will get your letter, identify when you allowances recycles and you will get your letter one or two day before that as they want it to coincide with exactly 30 days notice to the new £27 tariff, but that is if you are on a 1 month rolling One Plan...but if your are on a 12 mths rolling One Plan and provided you are still under the 12 mths contract, it will arrive once you 12 mths contract end.

Just moved from £15pm One plan to the £16pm 8GB unlim mins/txt 1 month-rolling deal that has been mentioned above a few times, and they wouldn't go lower. TBH I just wanted to make sure I didn't default to the horrendous £30pm deal that was written in my letter, so I was mainly after a 1m contract so I'm not tied in.

They effectively lost my loyalty now, and whereas before I wasn't looking around, if I spy something similar to the Vodafone 20GB £20pm Netflix deal then I'll be all over it. Shame really, I was happy sticking where I was, so it's their fault if I leave. Actions have consequences.

Edit: by the way, they wouldn't offer me this £9pm 4GB deal despite asking.

Simple

4GB data - 4GB tethering (taken from your 4GB total allowance)
8GB data - 8GB tethering (taken from your 8GB total allowance)
AYCE data - 12GB tethering (If you need more than its +£5 for extra 12GB tethering)

No Unlimited tethering anymore (even on the AYCE data plans)

Because Three are terminating the £15 One Plan and want customers to pay £30. This plan is less but you can add addition data, all you can eat data for £10 extra

I was paying £18 for the 'One' deal, received letter dated 12/2 saying new price would be £27. Called on 22/2, asked for £9/4GB, best offer was £12/4GB/600 minutes, got PAC.

Just tried again, best offer is the same, but this guy was basically apologising for the fact that there is a better deal and I can't have it, and every time I mentioned £9 he asked me if I know anyone who has the £9 deal - he made it clear that he needed a £9 number to punch into the system to get it to allow him to offer me the same.

Would any kind soul who already has this deal care to make my day and PM me their number?

I then asked to switch my wifes contract and that was do, no problems.

So just keep trying, Three haven't done very well out of this, they cancelled my One Plan which I was paying £15 now I'm paying just £9 so they have lost £6 per month.

Reading the posts I think Three have got wise and realised the the £9 was to good and now trying to up people to higher cost monthly payments. My thinking was that the 4GB £9 package was ideal as I could add an additional $GB for £5 or £10 for all I could eat.

But when I moved house recently and had no wifi I discovered that tethering via bluetooth from an Android phone to my Macbook worked absolutely fine. No blocks, decent speed, worked a treat. 13 Mar 16 1 #57
Had same thing recently. I rang them 3 days in row speaking to a few different people and even got the PAC code. I must say they offer some decent deals if you haggle enough but they seem to talk on and on and on about things most people already know, and how good three are and they offer this etc etc. talking for at least 30 min. I wanted 1 month rolling unlimited data, min and text but they wouldn't budge on the price so I took 12 month contract with unlimited data, min and text for £20 a month.

My advice for those trying is to keep hassling them and asking for better deals or telling them what your after and do some research of deals elsewhere and they will try and beat it. If not then tell them don't worry and keep ringing and speak to someone else

When I left 3 end of 2015 they didnt offer any good retention deals, now they're offering retention deals galore lol. they seemed to be hellbent on selling me a second contract for my spouse who I had to remind them several times that he had been a 3 customer also until his death a couple of years ago (which to be fair to them at the time they dealt with very efficiently). Appreciate there's a language barrier sometimes but they have the data in front of them......

There are two good EE deals on mobilephonesdirect at the moment worth considering.
Both I and Mrs Marx left 3 when they couldn't be bothered to try to keep us. Shame for them, it was easy money.

The 8gb Unlimited Mins, Unlimited texts UK and EU is currently
£14 x 3 + £28 x 9 - £132 cash backs = £13.50 per month (or £12.66 if you get £10 back from Quidco).

The 16gb Unlimited Mins, Unlimited texts UK and EU is currently
£17.50 x 3 + £35 x 9 - £180 cashbacks = £15.63 per month (or £14.79 if you get £10 back from Quidco)

I got the letter in February and had my first experience with their **** customer service. I only really used the data so after getting no joy for trying to be loyal (I wanted to stay) I eventually ported my number to giff gaff just to keep it and took the EE offer of 25Gb of data only for £15 per month rolling contract.
EE data is worlds apart from any speeds that I had from 3 and I travel the country a lot too so I tested the 3 network quite a bit.
getting speeds of up to 70Mbs with EE now and couldn't be happier.
3 can keep their crappy customer service and shove it where the sun don't shine.
I even had a lecture on how I wasn't moaning while they were giving me the discount before they wanted double the amount! cheeky ****

I asked for my PAC code about 10 days ago and the offers I received were poor so I insisted on my PAC code. 2 days later 3 rang and gave me this exact offer, which I accepted. So some may, like me, get the offer at the second bite, rather than the first.

I got this today for the old mother, without even really having to try! She's been with Three since Sept 2013. Was previously on 200 mins, 500MB for £6.90, now on unl mins, 4GB for £9. I've been with Three since Nov 2010 and stupidly took this deal for £11, last month (Had been paying £15 1 month rolling for 600 mins, 4GB).

It seems it's down to luck of the draw, but if you don't use much and are coming from a cheaper contract you might stand more chance.

Three are treading a fine line offering everyone different deals. They are getting as bad as Sky, in terms of trying to screw as much as they can out of every customer and only giving any leeway to those who fight. Best I could get at the end of my one plan was £22 for unlimited everything apart from 8GB tethering on a 1 month contract. That was weeks ago and although it shows up on my three they still have me on the one plan. They don't seem to know what they are doing. Most important for me was no 12 month contract as I'm leaving when o see a deal I like. Tired of their approach.

i had two contracts, the one month rolling One Plan that was about to be cancelled (i got the dreaded letter) and a £9.99 600min/1gb contract. Called to cancel both, the first department offered £12 per month unltd min/4gb (on a 12 month contract) for my non-One-Plan sim, and wouldn't go lower. They offered £16 per month unlt min/8gb (on a one month rolling contract) for my One Plan sim. Told them to disconnect me and went through to the cancellations dept, who stuck to their guns on the £16 offer for my One Plan sim but were able to drop the other contract to £9 per month as described in the original post.

He did say the £9 p/mnth deal was account specific. He wasnt able to add that deal to my One Plan sim.

Hope that helps!
