My cosmo got a 1 out of 5 in their hygiene rating. Will never be back.

Strange, as on the Food Standards website all (excluding the Scottish ones - different scheme so no stars given) are showing as 5 stars apart from Bristol (3 stars)
My impression is that if a restaurant hasn't filled in the paper work fully when they have their first assessment they automatically get a 1 star whether they really deserve it or not. Maybe this is why you think your Cosmo had a 1 star.

I'm pretty sure if you did that, it'd definitely get a 1 out of 5 stars.

As is the Sheffield one. Went for the first time a week ago and will definitely go back.
That is exactly how the system works, you can have a spotlessly clean kitchen, all food dated and labelled, but if you haven't ticked a few boxes on a form for the day or some paperwork is missing its a 1 star straight away.
I used to run a pub kitchen and it is so pointlessly over the top the amount of paperwork involved.

Useless for you but not for many.

Offer to pay full price for your kid? Would work out cheaper than normal (ie 2 full price meals rather than 2.5)
Or maybe take a homeless person with you? Wouldn't save you any money, but might give you a warm feeling :-)
