Can vouch for these .. we have one (although unsure if same make- but from lidl anyway) came with a 3yr warranty and still running strong. ours shows sad/smily face and has indicator lights to show if temp too high or low (or ok) can't complain for the price considering branded ones go for £30+

Great price - are these available now or from a certain date?

Does anyone have the instructions or box for one of these and can confirm the accuracy? The infrared thermometers are usually about +/- 2 degrees C, which would be quite inaccurate for body temperature.

Good price but all the medical staff we've talked to said for an accurate reading you really need one that goes under arm or in mouth. Apparently even the well known branded ones can be a fair whack out.
(we have to monitor our daughters temp very carefully)

Do not buy its absolutely waste of money. Got one last time when they were in lidl. Worked fine at the beginning, than my toddler got some fewer- this one was showing 35c when actually poor kid had 39.9c (verified in a&e).
Better add couple of quid and buy decent one- unless you dont mind it not working when you need it :wink:

I have under arm one from ebay £4 and its working perfectly and very accurate. I had braun and tommee tippee before and all are expensive and waste of money.
The under arm one is the best

After trying cheap electronic and reasonably priced IR body thermometers, I bought this: classic style non toxic gallium thermometer, made by Geratherm. Showing temperature in C and F, no batteries needed - best thermometer IMO.
Only downsides are, it requires a strong arm to shake it down after use and it takes around 10 min to take a temperature reading, so not the best for elderly or small children...

we have one of those that cost around £30 or more. We have it now since our son was a little boy. he's now 18 and that thing is still working. have always replaced the batteries when it asked to and bought the Braun plastic disposable covers to keep the tip clean. The thing with these is that they are IR (Infra-red) sensors and if you don't point onto the ear drum it will give you a lower temperature. That's why one should always try more than once in each ear. I have friends who bought the same model and couldn't use it. It always worked when I used theirs. It just depends how you use it. If you don't want to have the hassle then why not buying the old school type of thermometers that you just stick under the arm or put it into an orifice?
