If you type in the ue48ju6400 on that website it seems to come up with 2 results. 1 at £479 and the other at £589 for what looks like the same tv, confusing! £479 is a great price though.

Glad to see people are making use of the deal! I've now got two of the 48" in lounge and Snug, and a 32" 5500 for the bedroom; very pleased.
Recommend those really thin disc mounts for wall mounting, so easy and hangs like a picture frame.

I preferred the service and guarantees you get from John Lewis rather than some online only store
lersince1991
6 Mar 16#21
I bought mine a while back do not listed any more but this is what I am referring to:
Nope, Samsung use bought in screens, best to check as the 55 inch screens have two types one Samsung and the other made for them and those get bad reviews.

6 Mar 16#24
Appliance electronics are a well reviewed reputable company that have been around for some time. It's OK that you prefer John Lewis but it's still cheaper elsewhere. Maybe JL can price match properly appliance electronics if anyone really wants this particular model from this exact retailer.
I would certainly think twice about it though, only buy a cheap 4k panel now if you have a bunch of 4k content to use on it. If you don't then I strongly suggest anyone reconsiders. Especially if you intend to use this model with as much SD content as HD content.

Seems they are not as good as they used to be lots of discussion on another thread recently. Had good servic myself though
I have this TV and very happy with it. It's one of the better 4k TVs for gaming as the input lag in game mode is low.

I've tried several price matches with JL and they can be really obscure in their reasons not to pric ematch. Crampton and Moore is the first success I've had this year..and the 48 inch didn't have the delivery charge added but the 55 inch one did...different agents though.

Yes have tried a few now, but no joy. They seem to be very picky. Just sent a price match for the Crampton moore Deal at £519 think this is a good deal as I nearly got the ue48j5500 this is only £70 more...:stuck_out_tongue:

7 Mar 16#42
Nice one, probably worth submitting a couple of price match requests at the same time to make sure you get one that accepts it properly.
Also worth mentioning that I've been doing this for years, Crampton and Moore have always been the cheapest to price match against and JL have always accepted, this is now my 3rd tv with this discount (I'm now sorted for 5++ years).
John Lewis have always been fantastic with me, never had any problems with their service even when things go wrong.
Enjoy and remember this next time you buy a tv too.

I know John Lewis are fantastic with there services. We have brought before and had a problem with screen burn on a pioneer screen. they swapped it 3 times and gave us a loan set to use to. After all the hassle they let us just swap to a different TV. Can't fault them.
We normally do price match but they are really getting picky with whom they match! another is richer sounds though.
That's how we got our last TV, Panasonic 6years old £1200 so this TV for £519 from JL seems a steal.
Thanks again...:stuck_out_tongue:

Mine finally arrived at 9:30pm last night but I have to say that on the out of the box experience without picture tweaking is great, 4K videos on Youtube look ace although as said in reviews, some SD terrestrial channels don't look as good but I'm being picky.
The only thing is, is that there are not as many apps on the new Tizen OS that Samsung TV's now use compared to my 48H6400 but I feel that this is just because it's relatively new and hopefully more will be added.
My TV came with the latest firmware (1443) so it looks like it is a new build TV (manufactured in Feb) and not old stock and so far I haven't come across any backlight bleed around the bezel, motion blur, DSE etc.
I also plan to eventually put mine up on the wall and was concerned with the issues pointed out about the viewing angle but that also seems fine to me.

Thanks for the heads up, We new about the viewing angles but they are supposed to be better on the 48" we also new about the sd doesn't look so good. but we don't really watch anything in sd now so shouldn't be a problem for us. Glad it has the latest firmware to. Many Thanks for your input. :smirk:

12 Mar 16#56
I seriously doubt it's hdr, think it's a typo unless it's a feature been actived from a firmware update.
I have to say it's a great TV and very happy, but not convinced even I (20/20 vision sitting 3m away) can tell the difference between 1080p and 4K (I have put the Martian on in 4K) - not that it's bad, I think it's just as good as it gets. Really what I am saying is 4K is only really visible from 55" and above screen sizes.
lersince1991
12 Mar 16#57
Ps... John Lewis refunded me the difference TWICE, I think a technical glitch but I ended up getting it for £440

no idea, but people seem to have had issues about android on sony tv's being very slow

Personally I think this samsung is better than the sony you have mentioned. I say this after seeing the display of both sets at John Lewis. Also from what I read, the Sony android OS needs to mature a bit more.

They won't match online prices unless there is a store somewhere in the uk, hence why Crampton and Moore have been the best place to price match against for a long while

Submit another price match request, I normally do one matching their online price and one matching their in store price to cover both angles, normally they accept both without added charges but if I were you just submit another to get a different staff member rather than argue it
