For me, the resolution did look that bad. If this was 2009, the PPI would be acceptable, but now you can really see those pixels. If you want one of these, just make sure you see the screen in person before you buy. If its OK, good for you, each to there own.

If you are simply wanting to watch movies you don't need a high powered processor. Argos are doing the older Galaxy Tab E for £119 which has Android 4.4 Kit Kat and a higher resolution screen (1280x800) as most movies I've come across as 720p either screen will do:
Is there a point to this combination deal...Tablet and Audio Wifi Dongle?
Laptop and Shoehorn?
Microwave and a tv aerial?
Coat and a car charger??

I've got this tablet. Only got it as a media consumption device and I have to say I've been massively impressed. The screen resolution is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. And the screen resolution means lower power usage and with mine I get about 11-13 hours screen on time. It's very smooth, less lag than my G3! I bought mine for £139 but no chrome cast. I know the specs aren't great but I've had the nexus 9 for a while and for general Web browsing and media consumption there a negligible difference in speed. At least with this I can store tons of Media on my 128gb ad card. It doesn't lag during gaming but with games like Modern Combat they have noticeably lowered the texture detail so thats sk ething to bear in mind for those who were possibly planning to play anything intensive on this...
Best valued 4:3 AR tab I could find!

The problem is 8gb is simply not enough internal memory in my opinion, My kids had the tab4 8gb and they just about ran with the pre loaded apps, after a couple of updates the system couldn't cope and I had to return them and pay extra to go up to the 16gb version which for some reason they have now dropped from sale but continue to sell the lesser/useless 8gb???

I'm trying to get my head around phone/tablet architecture. Logic would dictate to me, that a bigger device can hold bulkier hardware, so has potential to be more powerful. Am I correct in thinking that?
Essentially, would this be faster than my S5 phone for slightly more intensive apps?

I have this tablet, not sure if it's the same, as mine has 4G and I paid nearly £300, last Summer. I have a sim with tethering. I can make phone calls but never have. I have a custom desktop system, for 3D rendering, Octa core and 32GB of RAM. Yet, I prefer the tablet over, my laptops, plasma TV and phablet. I bought a case for the tablet with a magnetic Bluetooth keyboard. It's the business, battery power lasts all day which is, great for watching 4K BT Sports and cooking along with Gordon Sweary ****!
Fantastic for browsing the Internet because you have seamless scrolling. No more page's to deal with, using the eBay app. Great for scanning, wireless printing and if your eyes can register more than 5 megapixels of the main camera, this isn't for you.
My daughter has the Ipad Pro and she prefers this. First thing she picks up, when she visits and hates me, because I am not sold on the Apple carousel.
This is so good for reading, my Kindle never gets used, I have two Nexus 7's I was holding onto, waiting for another generation then, I saw this, read the reviews and stumped up the cash.
Maybe the S2 is a better tablet, but I am satisfied with this and if I lose my broadband connection, I always have tethering to fall back on.
So many functions, I haven't used them all and did I mention split screen too? I can work on two applications side by side.
This may not be your cup of tea, but it works for me.
If I was being honest, I would say technology has been taken away from the user recently, with more reliance on automation and a step back in my book.
You have got to have corded headphones, replaceable batteries and be able to swap out memory cards. There is too much signal frequency interference, for Bluetooth devices to be continuously connected, I have Gadget Show best rated Bluetooth Sport Earphones, the interference causes the signal to drop out and nothing infuriates you more, than having your tunes confiscated! Oh! Let's not forget all and sundry can access your device, through the Bluetooth connection.
Is this relevant to this device? Yes and No!
I will always have a wired broadband, wired speakers and a turntable for playing vinyl.
Who needs Chromecast and the like, when there's Kodi?

I think you're mixing up your tabs, surely this tablet was never £300? You must be thinking of the original Tab S, which is the best tablet around imo. I've had it for 18 months and it's still the top dog. Don't like the change to 4:3 with new models though.

Far from it, my main phone is an iPhone 6 and I use my iPad mini just as much as this tablet. I think most of Samsungs hardware looks like its trying to imitate Apple's. Couldn't care less whether people buy Samsung's gear or not, just telling everyone how it performs, which in this case is very well.

No heat sorry.
The one big downside to this is the kitkat 4.4, I think that's what it's called anyway.
You cannot transfer from internal storage to sd card, everything goes the tab storage.
After its set up with WiFi and other apps you only have about 7GB left.
So any movies you want on the tab, you need to use a laptop to transfer over. Very few apps can be moved to the sd card so the storage gets full very fast.
I thought it might be just me not knowing how to move it over, but I have noticed that many others have also have experienced the same issues.
If this problem could be resolved then it would bexpect a fantastic tab.
If anyone has any ideas how to do it then your help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Lollipop is available here which I believe allows movement of apps to SD card (others may want to qualify/challenge that). You could also root the device which with then give you the option to change the default installation location to the SD card.
