Does this play through Steam or do you need Uplay?

The small print on the link above and some negative reviews suggest so.
Yes it does, but you can't really dodge that issue if you intend playing this game, unless you get a copy on Wii U.
To clarify: You do launch it from your Steam library, but before you get into the game, it launches uPlay first.

Funstock are also having a UBI sale. Trials Fusion is £3.20. Child of Light £2.40 etc.
They don't have any Rayman keys it seems but worth looking at if you have any interest in others
uPlay in tandem with steam is OK I find, you don't have to launch the program manually separately, it launches itself and you don't have to worry about it. Still kinda annoying but meh.

I prefer buying through Steam even though you have to authenticate through Uplay because if you buy through Uplay, you have to use their rubbish client to download the content.

I still prefer it to Origin... though they are both awful.
On the other hand Valve used to make amazing games but now they've stopped so they're hardly saints either.

Origin is pretty good as a client, the real problem is that I can't be arsed keeping track of 15 clients, I want to have all my games in one place. At least Ubi also release their games on Steam.

I'm no big fan of Steam but at least I can easily download games through the platform and transfer the content between machines, I gave up trying to get anything anything from Uplay as their buggy client maxed out my connection while downloading at a trickle.
