There is a lot of hype for this game if you look around, just not in this deal thread.

I disagree, there is practically zero hype for this game. There's hardly any decent coverage for the game anywhere. Sony haven't given this any exposure on stage at any of their events either. If anything, they've been promoting the movie more.
I mean the game looks decent, but nothing earth shattering. The fact that its RRP is nearly half that of most retail releases suggests it's a low budget, 4-5 hour game. What other retail game has been £25 before launch that isn't a remaster? None. I'm sure it'll still be a decent game but the lack of marketing suggests Sony aren't too bothered about how well it does.

But this game IS a remaster / remake.
It's one of the best looking PS4 games thus far if you look at the videos. Ratchet And Clank doesn't need promoting, it sells itself. It is a remake of the original Ratchet And Clank on the PS2 and the £25 pre order price is about right for a remaster. Its certainly not a game that is 4-5 hours long. You'll be getting easily double that if you run through it as quick as you can.
Regarding exposure, it was one of the main games at last years E3. The game will sell really well, and we can come back to this thread in a few weeks time when the reviews are rolling in with 8s and 9s out of 10

Thats shocking lol this game has so much hype backing it that, not only do we have a game but a movie to follow and compliment it also (ITS WHAT THE FANS WANT!). The game has strived to get a cinematic feel to it while bringing you closer to the action. With the next gen power this game has finally been able to create even more synergy between the upcoming movie and game.
The games have always had great story telling elements (great jokes), a wild assortment of guns (disco ball) and weapon upgrades(increased weapon abilities). Many of the previous iterations had great online aspects although the single player element has always been the focal point. To say it has zero hype is shocking. The game isnt a remaster /HD res, its a brand new game. It has new tech implemented for new guns, upgrades and story to go through your gaming experience.
The game will probably in all honestly span longer than 4-5 hours and will most likely have dlc elements or follow up sooner or later. The main focus of the game is single player and id rather pay £25.50 for a genuine solid buy that'll be worth every penny at a brilliant price than any shoddy game asking for £40 with 4-5 hour single player mode and a MEEEH online mode..... Gotta look at the value son. They haven't tried to mug you off by paying more but looking to have the duality of you watching the movie and having the fuller, better, hands on experience at being the hero!

Lol it looks nice I'll agree with that, but one of the main games at E3? Apart from a short trailer this game has never been demoed live on stage at any main Sony event.
As for the game doesn't need selling - you're joking right? The original PS2 trilogy rated highly but that was a long time ago and games have moved on. A Crack in Time on the PS3 was the last good entry in the series and that came out six and a half years ago.
The series has been in decline ever since so the jury is out on this remake-master. It's priced low so might be worth a punt but I somehow doubt this will score in the region you expect it to. Not saying it will be bad, but recent entries don't exactly inspire confidence.

What on earth are you talking about 4-5 hour game?
The game was announced just before E3 and price/game details were given where it was announced it would be $40 instead of $60 and the game will be 10-12 hours long. The trailer and gameplay was shown at E3.
There has been quite a bit of coverage on the game mainly from gamespot - they even had a 1-2 hour livestream of it last week. Other websites had hands on too:
Correct, it doesn't need selling. Regardless of whether its been a while since the last iteration or not it makes no difference. Just like if Crash Bandicoot came back, or Jak And Daxter...some things don't need the marketing or splashing everywhere.
The jury isn't out on this remake really as all previews are extremely positive for the game. Granted, good old fashioned platformers like this are on the wane, but thats the appeal. Games like this these days just don't exist on platforms outside of Nintendo and its a shame.
Ratchet and Clank will score highly and will sell well. If this game scores less than 80% average on Metacritic I'll be very surprised.
You have to consider also, a lot of the Ratchet spinoff games which granted have been dross, had been farmed out to other developers, this is Insomniacs first go at a proper Ratchet and Clank since....A Crack In Time and Into the Nexus. Both which scored well.

yeah, star wars was a long time ago and that smashed the boxed office with part 7. nostalgia is powerful, thats the whole reason why alot of the elderly people (whom I know) went to watch it and why it sold ALOT. Similarly R&C has spanned across quite a few generations and will have appeal to both old and young players
