You're talking rubbish mate. The parkside tools at lidl come with lithium ion batteries (as opposed to that crappy ni-cad battery on the one you posted), and are interchangeable across their other range of tools. As posted above, they also have 3year no hassle warranty.

My father in law bought the 18v version and I was very impressed, although it was a bit on the weighty side. Would be perfect for the DIYer as it will remain charged for when you need it, not like the dogpoo black and decker ni-cad that will be knackered in 3-4 months.

yeah, lidl are well known across the continent for the quality of goods they sell, and military and intelligence? I take it you can fly fighter jets, captain assault or destroyer type ships, captain a nuclear sub, coordinate wars and protection across the globe with tens of thousands of personnel, even an Army chef in Baghdad uses more intelligence than the likes of you in your 9 till 5 office non job

The words quality tools and LIDL shouldnt be in the same sentence.

Some of their food is good though, just not enough variety

True, Lidl power tools are not industrial quality, but bang for buck the quality is extremely good & I've fixed stuff from aircraft to tiny printed circuit boards and DIY'd for 30 yrs. Anyone who says different has either never used stuff from lidl, a brand snob or is just talking out of their ####.
I must have six or seven parkside power tools and they have taken use & abuse but keep on going. I'd not rate them as high as Makita or Dewalt, of course, but for instance the Parkside SDS drill that I've just used to channel loads of cable conduit into concrete and cinder block performed brilliantly. Yes, a bit heavier than the competition but I'm not doing these jobs every day of the week to reap the benefits of a more expensive item.
Pay your money & take your choice, but for me decent quality and a 3 yr guarantee is unbeatable.

I'm guessing you've never tried any of them out? I've bought more than a handful over the last few years and have found them to be similar if not better quality to other big name branded diy grade tools, but often at half the price. Heat added

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7106907.htm.

an extra tenner gets you an 18v, better quality drill. I suppose though you could wait a couple of weeks and they'll drop the price of these "quality tools"

I like the way you choose one aspect of my quote to reply to, just because you don't agree with wars, doesn't mean it doesn't take a massive level of intelligence to pull off every single aspect of it.

Would you mind posting your flight credentials? or the 30+ years of experience and countless masters degrees and training needed to captain a ship, or the qualifications to even be a low ranking ships cook, but yeah, it takes no intelligence to be in the military, you really have no idea.

now go back to your non job on minimum wage pushing a few scraps of paper around an office.

As you know they aren't. Just your typical Lidl nutjob poster. The sharpener and bench grinder are pretty generic chinese products that are seen under many other cheap brands. The drill I've not seen before. Nicely styled though but looks to have a low battery capacity probably around 1.2-1.5Ah. No hammer mode and a sort of in-between 16V rating.

Nothing wrong with them I bet though just entry level quality. Sadly many Bosch products are now sourced from fairly low quality chinese factories anyway. I'd recommend B&Q their drills are actually made by Festool but put into new cases to resemble low price Chinese power tools.

Parkside (Lidl) tools are not intended for trade use.I have a sander and a jigsaw from Lidl bought years ago probably onty had a few hours use each. Why pay more?
bonzobanana
12 Mar 16 #32
No of course they don't. I had no idea anyone would take my comment seriously. I was just taking the mickey with regards people claiming these obviously basic level Chinese tools are sourced through Bosch. The company that sources these for Lidl and Aldi is Einhell, a german importer of chinese power tools. In fact they even offer support to the Lidl and Aldi brands on their site.

http://www.einhelltools.co.uk/cmspage.php?page_id=65

These are low end tools and perfectly acceptable quality and both Lidl and Aldi offer generous warranties. However it just gets a bit stupid when people start stating they are german made or sourced through Bosch or other ridiculous quality claims. My experience is they are a bit hit and miss with regard spec and pricing. I have more issues with the food quality than the tools though.
andynicol

Taken seriously, no, taken with a pinch of salt.

You stated something as fact, surely you expected a bite?

Which is why I asked you a leading question inviting you to elaborate.

Only quoting what I've read on other forums, where Bosch is concerned. I do have a Karcher SC1020 steam cleaner - apparently Lidl sold a Silvercrest version which was a rebadge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4z40mqdahk

Mentioned here as well http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/karcher-sc1020-steam-cleaner-was-130-now-65-tesco-857264?p=10433408

The issue is you are reversing the reality of the situation. It's expensive to manufacture in Europe and many European brands are buying Chinese designed and manufactured goods and having their brand put on them for their entry level models. Karcher are also pretty crap anyway at the entry level. I'm pretty sure they did a range of pressure washers with a huge failure rate due to low quality part plastic motors. I'll see if I can find the evidence.

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/archive/index.php/t-178883.html

Anyway the point is Einhell is an importer of low price chinese power tools that are designed and manufactured in China. If another better brand also buys from the same factory that's not really a glowing reputation and its certainly not a rebadge of a Karcher its the same low end product being sold under the Karcher brand.

Both Panasonic and Bush (Argos) put their brand on Vestel televisions and washing machines but does that make the Bush a rebadged Panasonic? No of course it doesn't. Do Vestel make good washing machines and televisions, yes they appear to be reliable according to reliability surveys and sometimes get glowing reviews but there has also been problematic models that you probably wouldn't encounter anywhere near as much with normal Panasonic designed products that are sold at higher prices which aren't available under the Bush brand.

@bonzobanana, I won't pretend to be an expert where Lidl is concerned, I was merely quoting what I've read. If I'm misinformed I'm fine with that - I rather like Lidl. My expectations aren't too high with tools as they are only for light DIY use (though I only have a cheapie Duratool SDS drill from CPC).

I thought Karcher were decent, oh well.
andynicol to louiselouise
13 Mar 16 #48
bonzobanana rightly stated that the entry level Karcher machines are crap, high failure rate due to poor quality parts.

They do make decent machines, but there mostly out of the range in which your 'once a month user' would pay.
