The 2010is are excellent performers and set the standard at this price and size level" What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision magazine.
Affordable quality
The Q Acoustic 2010i standmount speakers are a quality pair of compact speakers at a surprisingly affordable price. Designed by true hi-fi enthusiasts, the 2010i use excellent quality components for the price.
Smooth treble response
The soft dome tweeter with a smooth, sweet sound is the ideal match for most budget amplifiers, which can be a little rough in their music handling. The new tweeter unit is also decoupled from the rest of the cabinet, so it isn't affected by vibration from the bass woofer unit - an impressive touch at this price.
Revised bass woofer for superior integration
Combined with a redesigned crossover, the up-rated woofer unit now integrates with the treble for a smoother and more seamless mid-range. The bass unit may be small, but its long-throw design also offers up a surprising amount of power for its size.
Class-leading construction quality
In addition to sounding better than most speakers at this price the Q 2010i is also better finished. Flush-mounted drive units and curved edges not only improve the aesthetics but also help the sound.
Perfectly sized to be used either on their own in a small room or as part of a home cinema package, Q here for the informed choice of small speaker.

True - I had 1 in the kitchen but really missed the stereo imaging so bought another. £300 all in.
Whilst the sound is expressive and incredibly tight, it misses the depth of bass and they get a little messy when there's a lot going on in a song. I think Sonos are outstanding with acoustic/vocal but difficult to get right with rock/indie

Sonos 1s in a pair are nothing like the quality of the 2020i Q Acoustic run from a digital amp that's fed a chromecast audio signal. One is joy, the other is only destined to be returned so they don't stay around and within your view to constantly remind you of the mistake made.

April the 1st is 2 days away.
My AV receivers 160w/ channel at 6 ohms and runs these, those farty little things would cause a mild trumping noise from the speakers!
Then again when you see the kids walking around thinking the noise coming from an iphone sounds good would probably think the amps great on these speakers.

This is simply unrivalled...these speakers with Chromecast audio and LEPY 2024A Plus Amplifier for around £123
Well you'll need two of the Sonos 1's to create the kind of proper stereo soundstage that a pair of these speakers will create. I'm not knocking Sonos kit, they're great but if you like your stereo to be from two discrete left and right channels you need a pair of them in each room. Soon the cost will add up.
A single Sonon speaker is no better than a decent Bluetooth speaker..there's the added benefit of a wireless connection but you will not have a stereo image.

The 2020i are bigger but better sounding bookshelves than these 2010i. Better base response is very noticeable. 2020i are very deep for their height, plus clearance for rear base port, beware here.
These sound awesome in our kitchen - high up on the wall units. V happy, driven with a SMSL SA-50 2x50W D-AMP.

I don't really know this brand.
In my opinion this amps are not powerful enough to fully enjoy the sound.
I'll get something bit bigger
I think you getting confused in here.
PC speakers and amps are usually only couple of watt in power - mostly up to 25W, some setts go to 50W.
Bookshelf speakers starts from 50W in most cases.
RMS power its not just loudness (as most people thinks).
Power is needed to move the speaker membrane fast as possible to produce "punch" - don't really need to be loud.
It's much more complicated than this but my language skills are not good enough to give you explanation.
Fell free to ask any questions about Q acoustics 2000 series as I have (had) most of them - 2050, 2020, 2020i, 2010i, 2000, 2070

2) What would be the best small amp to drive them for that purpose?

I don't get you, 2020's over 2010's have more power and better clarity. Of course I have a sub and I made no claim to them having deep base?
I spent a good hour in SuperFi with them all setup on a TX NR609 as a 5.1 package with the matching sub when I found the 2010's lacking a little, The salesman fetch a pair or 2020's and recalibrated then threw the upgrade into the deal as I liked it.
2020's are fine for stereo alone when you want bass but don't need it to rattle the doors.

My Tv is in the corner on a stand that has a vesa mount and their is no room i have every gadget their it the stand is full and because of the location wall mounting for the fronts is out of the question, ive always wanted some big floor standing speakers but my lounge doesn't have the space in the right areas to fit them. On my stand i have the Bostons on the middle shelf and on the top shelf above i have the Onkyo Atmos speakers as they are meant to be over the left and rights and mounted under the TV i have the center channel. Im tempted to get a pair of each and figure it out after but to be fair the Bostons sound great and fill the room and are very loud and the Sub shakes the room so i dont really need to upgrade but when you are into home AV you always want something better than you have.

Not really true.
There is only really small difference between 2020i and 2010i.
They both need subwoofer as this size of the driver and enclosure will never produce deep bass.
While played with sub 99% of population will not here any difference.
Anyway.
They sound great but looks even better in white gloss.
Grey ones looks just average

I have a pair of the 2020 and the 2000 centre in gloss white which look amazing, brilliant speakers on a AV setup, had them with a basic pioneer sub before getting a BK Gemini (British made) and the whole kit sounds brilliant. I understand that you say due to the location wall mounting is not an option, but are you sure? I mean you can get swivel wall mounts and toe-in the speakers to the listening position...may not look 'conventional' but it is an option.
I use a pair of side clamp wall mounts in the bedroom above the wardrobes and mount bookshelf speakers.
