The console has been discontinued, and most places are now out of stock, so it'll probably not get any cheaper than this for a new version.
-Plays the majority of PS Vita games
-Also plays PSP and PS1 games
-Supports PS4 remote play at up to 720p/60fps
-Includes voucher code for Worms Revolution Extreme, Velocity Ultra & OlliOlli
The console requires either a PS3 or PS4 controller, and if you want to download games you'll need to get a memory card - you can pick up an 8Gb card for around £10 if you don't mind re-downloading, but a larger size would obviously be better.
The trade-in value at CeX is currently £28.

But see this is the point , If you already have a console then why would you buy this except for saving a bit of space ? It's just frittering money really when you could put it to some decent games for your PS3/PS4 , I thought this was a good idea at first though too until i realised that it's actually built to make things as costly and awkward as possible rather than portable and convenient , Even the PS store games are far too expensive for just downloads over physical media but most new games are starting to come out download only these days .

To be fair, and also to Minter's annoyance he was banging on about Atari's Tempest X being released for the PS1, taking his Tempest 2000 port and it being sufficiently changed so that royalties did not have to be paid out...he has a point, but has not learned from it.
He knows the way the industry works, he has been in it long enough to know the pitfalls and get out clauses.
Futureshark
21 Mar 161#91
Indeed, you are quite right.
It's a shame Atari & Minter couldn't make some sort of agreement as it is the best version of Tempest I've ever played (including the mighty TempestX3 on PsOne, back in the day).
cicobuff
21 Mar 16#90
It is a blatant rip off of Tempest, Atari have a right to be aggrieved. Admittedly it is based on the Tempest 2000 version which Jeff Minter also did, however it still is Tempest (1981). If it had been licensed and released as an Atari title as 'Tempest Remix' or something then fair enough. Whilst I appreciate Jeff Minter's contribution to the gaming industry compare Resogun and Defender and Tempest and TxK, Resogun has enough to deviate from being a blatant rip off.
Futureshark
21 Mar 16#89
Try telling that to Jeff Minter. He sounded particularly aggrieved that Atari prevented his work from releasing to any other platforms. As much as I love my vita, i expect he lost out on many, many sales due to it being the smallest playstation platform.

VITA TV - £30 - Controller PS3 - PS4 £30 - Memory Card with space for more than 3 games and a bit of media - £30 , £90 all in plus limited for vita games and high prices on games means this is simply not worth it in this day and age when you can pick up a cheap second hand console or tablet , Sony really got it wrong with the vita .

Same using a GB lan setup shocking lag, I got this from the missis last christmas so I could play in the bedroom and leave the PS4 downstairs, I just move the PS4 now. Shocking bit of kit.
No SD Card (relies on sony's SUPER OVERPRICED cards)
Stupid Vita interface that works with touch screen not this!
Not all vita games work because they need touch screen or the pad at the back.
The lag is awful for example on COD you are dead before you see the other player.
Only 720p (I could live with this if it was not for the lag)
I only kept mine because it was a present and I was HOPING they would fix the problems.

Vita games aside, there are some absolute classics on the PSP that back in the day I always thought would be great as full on TV games and all in all this little box let's me play my back catalogue of them. Playing games like Resistance Retribution, Medievil Resurrection, Peace Walker, Valkyrie Chronicles 2, Wipeout, The 3rd Birthday and Obscure to name just a tiny few on my TV was worth the money alone, then you have all the PS1 games you can play. The PSP games all look bloody great on the TV too incredibly considering they were made for a 4" screen. Then you have the Vita games like Killzone Mercenary, Freedom Wars, and Dragons Crown too that all look stunning. Best £35 I've spent on a gadget in ages, small enough to take away if you work away a bit too. Plus, if you're a PS+ subscriber you have all that to add too. Hot from me.

I looked for a few weeks for another PS TV earlier this month. This was before they announced they won't be making any more. No stock could be found online. No stores in my area had any stock since Christmas. I had to settle to getting a second hand one from CEX for £35 which was brand new from what I could tell. Console looked untouched and the free games inside had not been opened or redeemed.
I agree if there is any stock to be found they may lower the price down even more. But actually finding stock won't be to easy.

The port is there but the Sony greed board decided they'd get more money by flogging people 2 consoles instead so they disabled it.
Proprietary formats, blocking 3rd party video services, PS Now instead of backward compatibility, etc - They need to take the top 3 levels of management out and shoot them :man:
Despite not using it much, I quite like the PSTV - streaming is workable (not for online shooters) if using it wired and it's nice to be able to play some games on it but I don't get why certain games still blocked after they implemented touch screen emulation and why there aren't many media streaming services / apps for it.

They use proprietary Vita memory cards, so the 64Gb card is about £65-70...
I believe you can swap the memory card between Vita and PSTV as long as they're both set to the same region, but your icon layout will reset.
The European version of the first Danganronpa isn't compatible, but the US version is btw.
If you use the LAN port (or at least disable the default 'use wi-fi in low power mode' option), then it's pretty good now they added support for 60fps. Obviously, some games work better with added latency than others - you'll find a driving game much worse than a JRPG, for example.

He knows the way the industry works, he has been in it long enough to know the pitfalls and get out clauses.
It's a shame Atari & Minter couldn't make some sort of agreement as it is the best version of Tempest I've ever played (including the mighty TempestX3 on PsOne, back in the day).
I didn't even realise I was making any tacky, petty insults - Mr Poopypants!!
In any case, if you don't find it useful I have a feeling these will sell for £50+ on eBay by the end of the year when they are scarce.
Bloke brought a couple out and saw that one was tagged as pre-owned even though it was a sealed unit. Bonus
Annoying, as I'd have bought one of these and a smartphone holder in a heartbeat had it worked well.
1. Controller lag/delay when using DS4 controller
2. Controller needs to be synced with PS Vita TV or PS4 if you decide to switch which one to use. (fix: have two controllers).
Best games on this PS Vita;
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
killzone : mercenaries looked extremely good in the 20mins i put into it before not playing it again. looking forward to not playing steins;gate on it as that's currently in my vita, being charged and updated for the first time in a year by which time i'll become distracted and play something else.
Blops 3 was a total non starter in my experience, maybe better for others. For 30 quid you can't grumble . I did actually vote hot, forgot to mention that earlier
PSVR is a bargain at £349, still got my eye on a Vive though.

Having said that I've played a few single player games and just about playable as long as it's not a game requiring fast reactions. And also use it to farm Gp on PES MyClub
Anyone looking in Bristol - the website mentions "low stock" in Yate. I bought one around 2pm and there was one more in stock.
Now I just need to find a cheap memory card!
I agree if there is any stock to be found they may lower the price down even more. But actually finding stock won't be to easy.
Might have to see if I can get hold of one.
Ive been dying to play GTA ChinaTown Wars from the PSP on a big screen.
Had no luck with all the stuff for the PSP, using the normal Sony way or CFW.
It was always a small box in the middle of the screen not much bigger than the PSP.
Will this allow me to do this using full 1080?
I believe one of the slots on the top of the original Vita had the potential to do this but Sony never followed it up.
Why Sony, why!
I bought mine for the same price few months ago,and I'm happy,it allows me to play certain Vita games that I missed while I had a Vita.it's the cheapest way to play them.
for £30 it's definitely worth it.
for me it will always remain PS Vita TV,it's original name.thats what it is,Vita TV..PS TV??? who came with that dumb rename?
I wasn't dissing PSTV or TXK (a great game IMHO) my defensive PSTV loving friend.

Some games lend themselves well to it, but if you plan on playing cod or battlefield in another room then forget it.
If you don't have a good power line or ethernet connection to feed into it then forget it. Wifi for this is hopeless.
I've got two PSTV micro-consoles with 3.20 OFW and couldn't be happier.
Am i able to just swap the one in my vita between it and this?
Tempted just to be able to play danganronpa on the big screen.
